Bet of the Weekend #7 – Prematch Double

The Breakdown

This week we are going for something new – our Bet of the Weekend is going to be a multi sports prematch double.

Part 1 – Plymouth Draw No Bet vs Scunthorpe (5th October, 3pm BST)

The first pick is on football and I am going into the English League Two where Plymouth Argyle are up against Scunthorpe. Plymouth have not really performed the way their fans would have expected so far this season and with 11 matches gone, they’re sat 12th in the league table with just 15 points.

However, they claimed a very impressive win away from home against Mansfield last weekend and also kept a clean sheet in the process. They have only lost once at home this season and are up against a side that has the worst away record in the league.

Scunthorpe are the only side to have lost all 5 of their away games this season. Another factor is that their joint top scorer, Matthew Lund, – who has played in every game so far – was sent off last weekend against Bradford. He will not be featuring this weekend, which is a huge blow to Scunthorpe.

I expect Plymouth to build on their win from last weekend and come away with all 3 points from this fixture, but I will be going safe with draw no bet which means that if the game ends in a draw, our bet gets voided and we get a refund.

Part 2 – Pakistan to win vs Sri Lanka, 1st T20 International (5th October, 2.30pm BST)

My next pick is on cricket where I am backing Pakistan to win against Sri Lanka in their 1st T20 international. The match will be played this Saturday at 2.30pm.

Pakistan are the number one T20 side in the world according to the ICC’s rankings, while Sri Lanka are 8th in the table. There is a huge gulf between these 2 sides when it comes to this format of cricket.

Another huge factor is that this game will be played in Pakistan in front of their home crowd in Lahore and the tickets are sold out. Fans will be extremely eager to see their team live for the first time in a while.

However, the biggest factor that led me in choosing this bet is that Sri Lanka’s 10 main first teamers are not in the squad and most of their players that are in the current squad have little or no international experience. I expect Pakistan to put in a dominating performance and win this game comfortably in front of a jam-packed home crowd.
