Rotherham Can Step Towards Safety on Saturday

April 6, 2016

Rotherham are unbeaten in seven Championship games.

It was a cracking midweek in the Championship as we landed all three bets through Brentford, Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham. Niel Warnock’s side were a good price to come away from Bristol City with at least a point and they duly went a goal up before being pegged back to a draw by the Robins. We’re following the same tactic of betting on United to continue their seven-game unbeaten run when they visit MK Dons on Saturday.

The match has extra significance as the Dons trail Rotherham by six points in the battle to avoid relegation, and a win here could be vital for either team. In other games we’re going back to Boro as the Smoggies have put together a three-game winning run to move back into the division’s top two, and they face a winnable game at home to Preston. Meanwhile it’s another regular bet on over 2.5 goals in a Fulham game, with Cardiff this week’s visitors to Craven Cottage.

MK Dons v Rotherham

Rotherham or Draw is a best price of 1.67Bet €100 to win €16767/100Bet £100 to win £167-149Bet $100 to win $1670.67Bet HK$100 to win HK$167-1.49Bet Rp100 to win Rp1670.6700Bet RM100 to win RM167  with Bet365 and they are more than capable of driving another nail into MK Dons’ coffin at the foot of the table.

With five wins and two draws from the last seven games, Neil Warnock and Rotherham have almost pulled off the great escape from a seemingly impossible position. However, the wily old coach will not let his side rest on their laurels and he will have them fired up for this one in the knowledge that victory could take them a huge nine points clear of the drop zone.

The experienced manager didn’t mince his words when he was outspoken about the welcome (or lack thereof) laid out by Bristol City, and it all adds to the siege mentality he has developed at his latest club. They’ve beaten the likes of Middlesbrough, Ipswich and Leeds during this unbeaten run, and they are travelling to a side on a sequence of three straight defeats.

The recent form of Rotherham, Bristol City and Fulham along with MK Dons’ poor run has probably left their fans fearing the worst. Having been competitive for large parts of the season the latest three losses have been devastating as teams around them have been winning, and all of a sudden the Dons have a six-point gap to make up in as many games. They’ve suffered home defeats to Brighton and Wolves in the last few weeks, along with a damaging 2-1 away loss at Fulham and it’s beginning to look like curtains.

Rotherham are in fine form and are worth backing to get at least a point from this game as they look to cement their Championship status.

Middlesbrough v Preston

Middlesbrough threatened to bottle the promotion race with three defeats in quick succession recently, but they’re back on the winning trail and are worth backing at home to Preston at 1.65Bet €100 to win €16513/20Bet £100 to win £165-154Bet $100 to win $1650.65Bet HK$100 to win HK$165-1.54Bet Rp100 to win Rp1650.6500Bet RM100 to win RM165  with 888Sport and Unibet

There was clearly some back-room unrest at the club with manager Aitor Karanka missing the 2-0 away defeat after a training ground row, but the air has been cleared and all appears to be well once again. His side have picked up nine points from the last three games against Hull, QPR and Huddersfield, scoring three times each in the latter two, and that’s been enough to move them back into the top two just a point behind leaders Burnley.

Preston have had a great season at their first attempt back in the Championship, but any lingering hopes of making the play-offs have all but disappeared after the 2-1 home defeat to Fulham in midweek. They now sit in 10th place, eleven points off the top six. It’s been a successful campaign whatever way you look at it, but Boro have the best home form of any team in the division and another three points beckon as they look to make a long-awaited return to the top flight.

Fulham v Cardiff

Fulham have been the side that keeps on giving this season as far as goals are concerned, and the price of 1.93Bet €100 to win €19393/100Bet £100 to win £193-108Bet $100 to win $1930.93Bet HK$100 to win HK$193-1.08Bet Rp100 to win Rp1930.9300Bet RM100 to win RM193  with 888Sport and Unibet about their match with Cardiff going over 2.5 goals is more than acceptable.

The Cottagers remain the division’s second top scorers behind leaders Burnley, but they also have the worst defensive record outside of the bottom two of Charlton and Bolton. Two wins from their last two against MK Dons and Preston have been highly welcome as those results have helped pull them away from the relegation zone when it had been too close for comfort for far too long. They’re seven points clear of MK Dons now, and another win or two should easily see them safe.

Meanwhile, Cardiff are four points behind 6th placed Derby after the 0-0 draw at Burnley in midweek, and they will be gunning for every game over the last week’s of the season as they aim to gatecrash the play-off party. That should lead to a wide open game here with both sides going toe-to-toe in search of three valuable points. Five of Fulham’s last six games have had three or more goals, and although Cardiff aren’t prolific, this game is one where both sides will fancy their chances of a win and that should lead to plenty of goalmouth action.
