Fulham and Forest to Fire in the Goals

April 21, 2016

Nottingham Forest beat Fulham 3-0 when they last met.

It was another good night in the Championship for us on Tuesday as Burnley secured a last-gasp point at home to Middlesbrough to land the draw bet, and Brighton smashed QPR 4-0. It was only Sheffield Wednesday that let the side down as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by relegation-bound MK Dons.

The point that Burnley saved through Michael Keane’s injury-time equalizer could prove vital in the race for the Premier League and it kept the Clarets above Brighton by the slender margin of goal difference. It was also a crucial result for Middlesbrough as it keeps them two points clear at the top. They might have preferred to take all three, but their fate remains in their own hands with just three games to play. Down at the bottom it’s all over bar the shouting with Bolton, Charlton and MK Dons the three unfortunate clubs to be dropping into League One next term. While MK Dons can mathematically still survive, it would take something of a miracle for them to overturn a nine-point gap and a significant goal-swing on any of the sides positioned above on 48 points.

Charlton were in a win or bust situation in midweek but played out an insipid draw with Bolton, and we’re opposing the Addicks this week when they host Brighton. We’re also siding with Rotherham to claim at least a point away at Wolves as they look to continue a ten-game unbeaten run, and we’re returning to Fulham for an over 2.5 goals bet that has been very successful this season.

Fulham v Nottingham Forest

The Cottagers continue to be involved in high-scoring games on a regular basis, and over 2.5 goals is a nice price at 1.93Bet €100 to win €19393/100Bet £100 to win £193-108Bet $100 to win $1930.93Bet HK$100 to win HK$193-1.08Bet Rp100 to win Rp1930.9300Bet RM100 to win RM193  with Marathonbet for the visit of Forest.

At the risk of being repetitive Fulham are one of the division’s top scorers and one of the division’s worst defenders. They’ve racked up an impressive 64 goals but have conceded a dismal 73 – more than any side other than the bottom two. Seven of their last ten games have seen at least three goals, and now that they are finally safe from relegation, they are not expected to get any tighter.

Nottingham Forest have had a topsy turvy season but thankfully for their fans had already put enough points on the board to be able to survive a second-half season slump. They’ve won just twice in 14 games since the start of February, and have dropped to be level with Fulham on 48 points. Three of their last five have had more than three goals, and it’s also worth noting that the 2.5 goal line has been passed on each of the last three occasions these two have met.

Charlton v Brighton

Brighton are the next bet to push their promotion chances with a win at Charlton at 1.53Bet €100 to win €15353/100Bet £100 to win £153-189Bet $100 to win $1530.53Bet HK$100 to win HK$153-1.89Bet Rp100 to win Rp1530.5300Bet RM100 to win RM153  with SkyBetBetfred and Paddy Power

The Seagulls landed the odds on Tuesday and are on a superb run now of six wins in seven – with the only draw in-between against Burnley. It’s that rival that they are looking to overhaul in the race for automatic promotion, and by the time Brighton kick off on Saturday they will know the result of Burnley’s tough derby match away at Preston on Friday night. Regardless of that game, Brighton can do little else but win their remaining matches, although with Derby and Middlesbrough to come in the last two, this one is a must-win.

Charlton have finally been relegated but it comes as no surprise due to the bizarre goings on at the club with ownership. They’ve only won three of the last fifteen home games, and were unable to raise their game in midweek when a win at already relegated Bolton was their last chance of survival. While teams often perform ‘better’ once the pressure is off and they know they are down, the last thing Charlton need right now is a visit from a free-scoring Brighton side that has knocked in nine goals in the last two games.

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Rotherham

Finally it’s Rotherham or Draw at a more than acceptable 1.70Bet €100 to win €1707/10Bet £100 to win £170-143Bet $100 to win $1700.70Bet HK$100 to win HK$170-1.43Bet Rp100 to win Rp1700.7000Bet RM100 to win RM170  with Bet365

We’re not sure if we’d agree with Neil Warnock’s assessment that he’s the best boss in the Championship, but after the miraculous escape he’s led Rotherham to, he is certainly in the running!

Once dead and buried, the Millers have put together a run of seven wins and three draws in the last ten games and hauled themselves clear of relegation. As things stand they still require a point to be mathematically certain of survival, and they can get it this weekend against a Wolves side which has lost it’s last two games.

Wanderers had a sterling season last year after promotion from League One, but they’ve found the second season in the Championship a little tougher. However, they are comfortable in mid-table and can look forward to a tilt at promotion next season. Performances have understandably slipped away since any chance of the play offs disappeared, and it’s now just one win in the last seven. They are always strong at home in general, but they’ve been held to 0-0 draws in the last three home games, and Warnock will arrive with an organized Rotherham side on Saturday.
