Enjoy a Perfect Symphony at Beverley Races This Afternoon
2.20 Beverley – Perfect Symphony
Perfect Symphony made an incredibly promising debut at Carlisle when going off an unfancied 26.0 shot, and with the benefit of that experience and a good draw, the son of Dandy Man should be very difficult to beat in the 5 furlong Racing UK Maiden Auction Stakes at Beverley.
Kevin Ryan has a large string and a good handle over the ability and progression of his young horses, so when they go off large prices for their debut runs, the Yorkshire based handlers runners are often best left. At Carlisle, Perfect Symphony was largely unfancied, but his effort belied those odds and although he was eventually held by the market leader, his run was abundant with promise. The front two pulled 6 lengths clear of the third and the fourth has since gone on to score at the second time of asking, boosting the form further. The horse had the pace to track the leaders that day, but did show some greenness under pressure, inferring that he was likely to improve plenty for the experience.
Beverley is typically a track that favours horses that race prominently and close to the rail. Perfect Symphony is drawn in stall 10 and is likely to press forward early.

6.40 Thirsk – Roaring Rory
Roaring Rory was a beaten favourite over course and distance last time out, but there were some excuses for that performance and in all honesty, he didn’t run all too badly. Given a month off the track and dropped back into selling company, he has a very strong chance of getting back into the winner’s enclosure, with competition thin on the ground.
Roaring Rory is a fairly unexposed 3 year old, with just 11 runs to his name. He has scored on both the turf and the all-weather and seems a fairly straightforward individual. After winning a course and distance seller and following that run up with a creditable second at Wolverhampton, Ollie Pears runner went off favourite for a handicap back at Beverley over 5 furlongs last time out. Got caught a little further back than he would have liked to have been, and then found trouble in running before staying on towards the line. That was a big field and the race was over by the time Roaring Rory got out to make his charge. This is a small field so the horse is far more likely to be able to sit handy. Furthermore the competition is weaker than last time out, and Roaring Rory should be able to make amends.
