Prying Pandora Can Win Again At Leicester Races

July 14, 2016

Thursday's racing tips come from Leicester and Doncaster.

Prying Pandora goes to Leicester on Thursday on the back of a very impressive victory over course and distance and Richard Fahey’s 3 year old Dark Angel filly has a fantastic chance of following up that success in a weak race for the females. She seems an uncomplicated horse and looks to be well overpriced at odds of 4.0.

Richard Fahey has a great record at Leicester in recent years, particularly with his 3 year olds. He is 11/51 (22%) for a £31 level stakes profit with the age group and the highly talented trainer looks to have found his runner an ideal opportunity to win back to back races. Prying Pandora has been a very consistent animal – she has yet to be out of the front three in all six of her racecourse starts. After racing midfield in her first three starts, the daughter of Dark Angel switched to front running tactics when she was stepped up in trip to 7 furlongs. Went close at York at the back end of last year and came back this term with a creditable effort over a mile at Carlisle. Shaped as though the drop back in trip would suit, and the soft ground was clearly to her liking last time out at Leicester over 7 furlongs. Sent to the lead early, Prying Pandora never saw another rival and sauntered home by 4 lengths. Pedigree doesn’t suggest that the soft ground should have been the catalyst for improvement (in fact she should prefer fast ground based on dam’s side), and we have to draw the conclusion that she has just improved. Looks like a 2.75 shot and is available at 4.0, so is a no brainer bet.

Bet – 1 point win Prying Pandora at 4.00Bet €100 to win €4003/1Bet £100 to win £400+300Bet $100 to win $4003.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$4003.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp400-0.3333Bet RM100 to win RM400  with  William Hill

Sennockian Star appeared to show that he is coming back to form with a third placed finish last time out and there are plenty of reasons to think that he could be revisiting the winners enclosure. Mark Johnston’s Rock Of Gibraltar gelding is an experienced runner and a tough one at that, so the 5 day break should pose no problems.

Sennockian Star last won a year ago off a mark of 93 at Chester. That was a Class 2 handicap and in reality, since then, he has struggled to get overly competitive. As a consequence his mark has declined to 85 and that makes the 6 year old eligible for a Class 4 handicap for the first time in a long time. Is likely to sit close to the pace (can front run) and is very well handicapped on efforts last year. At odds of 4.0, he seems good value.
