Ingleby Hollow to Leave Punters with Full Pockets

3.45 Catterick – Ingleby Hollow

David O’Meara is always a trainer to watch. He has made his name in recent years by taking other trainers’ castoffs and improving them no end. O’Meara has an affinity with his runners and Ingleby Hollow has been a credit to the yard. The 4 year old gelding has been remarkably consistent in recent starts and his honest, prominent racing style always gives punters a run for their money. Catterick is a track that typically favours horses who race close to the pace and he could be difficult to peg back. 

Ingleby Hollow is no superstar, but in and around Class 4 contests he is a solid runner. With 3 wins and 8 places, it is rare that he doesn’t make the frame. May not be entirely straightforward, as he does wear the cheekpieces, but regardless, he is a likeable individual. Went off favourite last time out at Redcar on fast ground over 14 furlongs, and was only denied late in the day after leading for most of the contest. Has gone up just 1lb for that effort and has the services of the useful 5lb claimer Josh Doyle who reduces the burden.

There are some in form rivals that Ingleby Hollow will have to fend off, namely the John Quinn trained Project Bluebook. 3 year olds statistically do well in handicap company at this time of year over 12 furlongs+ and the son of Sinndar is still unexposed with just 8 runs under his belt. Ingleby Hollow however, is proven over the distance and ground and makes a decent each way bet.

The 32Red Fillies Handicap over 6 furlongs looks to be a very competitive race, with three last time out winners in the field. We side with the bang in form Lajatico, an in form 3 year old filly who is on for the hat trick. An unexposed daughter of Equiano, Ed Vaughan’s runner is turned out under a 6lb penalty following her facile success 4 days ago at Newmarket. She is set to go up to a mark of 84, so is effectively 3lbs well in, and claimer Nathan Evans relieves the filly of a further 5lbs. A keen racing hold up horse, she should get a good pace, and can score for the third time in succession.

Lajatico started off her career with three reasonable performance, and was allotted a handicap mark of 69. Finished third on handicap debut but hacked up when switched to the all-weather on fifth career start, winning by just shy of 4 lengths. Followed that up with an equally emphatic performance last time out and really looks like a filly on the up. Worth following in at odds of 2.88
