Miller to Grind His Way to National League Golden Boot

September 16, 2016

Ricky Miller has six goals already this season.

Ricky Miller is one of the hottest properties in the English National League and, now that he is back in favour with his club, he is worth backing to be the division’s top goal scorer this term.

Miller was sent off 49 minutes into Dover’s first English National League home match, a game that the Whites led 1-0 at the time but ended up losing 1-4. Dover manager Chris Kinnear was incensed by Miller’s lack of discipline against a Boreham Wood team that made hay while the Whites were one player light. Miller was suspended for Dover’s 2-0 English National League home victory over North Ferriby but he was expected to return to the Whites starting line-up for their divisional away game versus Eastleigh. Kinnear, however, had other thoughts, only introducing Miller in the 78th minute, although the striker did net Dover’s English National League match-clinching goal 11 minutes later. Miller did not play a single minute in Dover’s 3-1 English National League home defeat of Barrow and he had to settle for cameo appearances when the Whites tackled Torquay and Aldershot, a couple of divisional games that they lost by the odd goal in three.

Back-to-back English National League losses in which Miller did not start forced Kinnear’s hand – Dover could not afford to keep kicking off without the striker who scored 20 goals in last term’s competition. Dover won its English National League away match against Southport 1-0 on Miller’s return to its starting side and he scored a hat-trick when the Whites beat the division’s pre-season favourite, Forest Green, 4-3 at the Crabble Athletic Ground.

Only Dagenham & Redbridge forward Oliver Hawkins has scored more English National League goals this season than Miller, who is available at odds of 13.00Bet €100 to win €130012/1Bet £100 to win £1300+1200Bet $100 to win $130012.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$130012.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp1300-0.0833Bet RM100 to win RM1300  with Bet365 and BetVictor. That Miller has notched six English National League goals despite making just five starts and eight appearance in the opening 10 rounds of the tournament speaks volumes for his ability and explains why Lincoln boss Danny Crowley is keen to lure him to the promotion-chasing Red Imps. Crowley has gone public with his admiration for Miller, admitting that he approached Dover chairman Jim Parmenter recently. There is no transfer window in the English National League this term so, if Lincoln is able to agree terms with Dover and Miller over the coming weeks, he will be able to join the Red Imps. Lincoln, the English National League side that is carrying one’s cash at long odds, sold one of its main strikers, Jonny Margetts, to English League One title contender Scunthorpe last month so it has a vacancy.

One is expecting everything between Lincoln, Dover and Miller to come to a head shortly. Lincoln will be Dover’s next English National League visitor and, based on Miller’s history, one would not be at all surprised to see him rise to the occasion for the Whites in front of his Red Imps admirers. Miller has some ties to Lincolnshire having had success playing for Boston and Stamford in the county.

Four players are trading at shorter odds in English National League top goal scorer betting than Miller, which one feels is wrong given not only Miller’s statistics but also the regard in which one of the division’s most highly skilled coaches holds him. Crowley is a superb judge of a player.
