Inter to Beat Bologna Black and Blue in Sunday’s Serie A

September 22, 2016

Inter beat Juventus 2-1 last weekend.

Internazionale is coming together for its new boss, Frank de Boer, and the Black and Blues represent the best bet on the weekend Italian Serie A program following a midweek card.

Last weekend’s 2-1 Italian Serie A home win over Juventus, in which Internazionale fought back from 0-1 down, was a turning point for the Black and Blues after they had been beaten 0-2 at home to Hapoel Beer-Sheva in the UEFA Europa League three days earlier. Three Italian Serie A victories in a row have lifted Inter to fifth on the competition ladder, one point ahead of its Sunday guest, Bologna.

Internazionale coach De Boer has pretty much a full squad from which to choose but his Bologna counterpart, Roberto Donadoni, is unable to pick several players, including suspended winger Federico Di Francesco. Bologna has won three out of three at home in Italian Serie A but the Red and Blues have copped a couple of hammerings on their travels, losing emphatically at Torino and Napoli.

Since July 2015 Internazionale has lost just one Italian Serie A home match in which it did not have at least one player sent off. Last term’s corresponding Italian Serie A fixture resulted in 2-1 win for Inter in which Bologna only netted in second-half stoppage time. And Inter overcome the 60th-minute dismissal of Felipe Melo to beat Bologna 1-0 away from home earlier in last season’s Italian Serie A.

William Hill is quoting Internazionale at odds of 1.50Bet €100 to win €1501/2Bet £100 to win £150-200Bet $100 to win $1500.50Bet HK$100 to win HK$150-2.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp1500.5000Bet RM100 to win RM150  to get the better of Bologna and that strikes one as a decent wager as the Black and Blues continue their improvement.

One does not agree with bookmakers that Torino is vastly inferior to Roma and, consequently, one is selecting the Maroons to derive something tangible out of their Italian Serie A home game against the Yellow and Reds on Sunday.

Five rounds into the Italian Serie A tournament and there is not a huge difference between the shots and shots-on-target numbers of Torino and Roma on both sides of the ball. For example, Torino and Roma have each had 14 more shots on target than their respective Italian Serie A opponents.

Roma has accrued just one point from its two Italian Serie A road matches and yet bookmakers think that they are worthy of being close to even money to win at Torino. One does not subscribe to that school of thought and, therefore, one is keen to back Torino on the double-chance market at odds of 1.83Bet €100 to win €18383/100Bet £100 to win £183-120Bet $100 to win $1830.83Bet HK$100 to win HK$183-1.20Bet Rp100 to win Rp1830.8300Bet RM100 to win RM183  with Bet365. Two Torino players are banned – Maroons midfielders Afriyie Acquah and Giuseppe Vives – but one cannot resist opposing Roma given the prices available.

Last term’s corresponding Italian Serie A fixture ended 1-1 and Roma has not won a match at Torino since April 2013.

Finally, Juventus will be popular with punters even though the White and Blacks are trading at odds of 1.33Bet €100 to win €13333/100Bet £100 to win £133-303Bet $100 to win $1330.33Bet HK$100 to win HK$133-3.03Bet Rp100 to win Rp1330.3300Bet RM100 to win RM133  with many bookmakers, including Bet365, Betfred and William Hill, to earn maximum points from their Italian Serie A visit to a Palermo team that would be bottom but one on the ladder if it had not scored a very late winning goal at Atalanta.

Only Italian Serie A relegation hotpot Crotone has had fewer shots on target in the opening five rounds than Palermo so one does not fancy the Pink and Blacks on Saturday versus a Juventus side that is the division’s undoubted heavyweight.
