Terriers Set to Record Fifth Straight Home Victory

September 27, 2016

Huddersfield have won all four Championship home games this season.

Another successful Saturday in the Championship saw us land two out of three bets, with Newcastle just two minutes from making it a clean sweep. The Magpies conceded a late equaliser against Aston Villa, having missed a host of chances to extend their 1-0 lead.

In midweek it’s another full fixture list, and arguably the tie of the round is Wednesday night’s encounter between Rafa Benitez’ side and Norwich. The Canaries took advantage of Huddersfield’s defeat to soar to the top of the table with a 3-1 win over Burton, and Alex Neil’s men have now won four league games on the trot. The match at St James Park is a tough one to call, though, and for betting purposes it may be best left alone.

Instead, we’re concentrating on three fixtures on Tuesday evening. Huddersfield’s incredible early season form was brought to a halt by a 1-0 defeat at Brighton, but they bounced back in good style to beat QPR 2-1 in the following game. They suffered a second defeat of the season on Saturday as they went down 1-0 at Reading, but warrant support as they attempt to bounce back again, this time at home to Rotherham. Birmingham, meanwhile, have continued their excellent start to the season and landed a good bet for us on Saturday with a 1-1 draw at QPR. They look a shade overpriced for the visit of Preston, whose last Championship away match ended in a 5-0 thrashing at Brentford. Our final tip is one that may prove to be lucrative this season, which is to back Notts Forest games to exceed the 2.5 goal line.

Huddersfield v Rotherham

Starting with Huddersfield, and the Terriers deserve support at 1.62Bet €100 to win €16231/50Bet £100 to win £162-161Bet $100 to win $1620.62Bet HK$100 to win HK$162-1.61Bet Rp100 to win Rp1620.6200Bet RM100 to win RM162  with BetfredBetVictor and Coral to beat a Rotherham side that is poor on its travels.

The Millers four Championship away matches this season have all ended in defeat, and they’ve conceded three or four goals in each game. Aston Villa, Brighton, Barnsley and Blackburn have all taken three points after hosting Rotherham, and it looks like a long hard season beckons for the team that pulled off a great escape last term. They’ve managed just the one league win so far – a 1-0 home victory over Brentford – and they are firmly in the relegation zone.

Even the most die-hard Huddersfield fans wouldn’t have expected quite the campaign they’ve had so far, and despite those two recent defeats, they still sit second in the table with 19 points. Having amassed such a good return from the first nine games, there is no reason not to dream and home form will be critical if they are going to maintain a challenge for promotion. It’s been perfect so far as four games against Brentford, Barnsley, Wolves and QPR have yielded 12 points. They have every right to go and attack Rotherham, and this is arguably the home banker of the weekend.

Birmingham v Preston

Birmingham could be underestimated by the bookies with the 2.30Bet €100 to win €23013/10Bet £100 to win £230+130Bet $100 to win $2301.30Bet HK$100 to win HK$2301.30Bet Rp100 to win Rp230-0.7692Bet RM100 to win RM230  on offer with BetVictor about a home win over Preston very tempting.

The Blues have lost just one game so far this season in the league, and are currently on a run of five matches without defeat. Those games have included two draws with Reading and QPR, and three victories over good sides in Fulham, Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday. Manager Gary Rowett has seen his side progress to 6th in the table, and as things stand they are a mere four points off leaders Norwich.

Preston were always going to have a tough time of it in this year’s competitive Championship, and although they’ve managed three victories to give them nine points, they’ve lost their other six league games this season. On their travels a 2-0 win at QPR is the only bright spot, with the other three road fixtures ending in defeat at Reading, Ipswich and Brentford. The latter was the worst result as Brentford ran out convincing 5-0 winners. Preston are currently 19th in the table, three points above the relegation zone. If promotion is a target for Birmingham, survival is surely the target for Preston.

Nottingham Forest v Fulham

Finally, we’ve already made money by backing Forest games to feature goals, and Over 2.5 at 1.77Bet €100 to win €17777/100Bet £100 to win £177-130Bet $100 to win $1770.77Bet HK$100 to win HK$177-1.30Bet Rp100 to win Rp1770.7700Bet RM100 to win RM177  with Marathonbet is the bet when they host Fulham.

With 17 scored and 19 conceded, Notts Forest are among the most prolific in the league at both ends. All but one of their 12 league and cup fixtures have had at least three goals, with the only exception the 1-0 defeat at Brentford early in the season. Since that game eight fixtures have surpassed the 2.5 goal line, and it’s a viable bet when Fulham visit on Tuesday night.

The Cottagers were one of the most prolific sides in the division last term and we regularly backed them to go over 2.5 with great success. They’ve been more miserly this time around, but as back-to-back defeats at home to Bristol City in league and cup have shown, they are more than capable of conceding goals. The two sides are separated by two places and two points in the league, with Fulham in 13th with 13 points, and Forest back in 15th with 11.
