Dortmund to Deepen Schanzer’s Relegation Fears

October 21, 2016

Ingoldstadt are bottom of the league ahead of their visit to Dortmund.

Dortmund has German Bundesliga title aspirations and, if it has any chance of dethroning Bayern Munchen, then it ought to collect three points from its away match against an Ingolstadt side that looks increasingly destined for the drop.

Ingolstadt lost its clever coach, Ralph Hasenhuttl, during the summer as he took up an offer with Leipzig. Look at where Ingolstadt is on the German Bundesliga ladder and how Leipzig is faring in its first top-flight season; the difference is stark and a lot of it is down to their respective managers. Ingolstadt boss Markus Kauczinski has been unable to replicate Hasenhuttl’s success and the Schanzer have accrued just one point from their first seven German Bundesliga games and that was courtesy of a 1-1 draw at second-bottom Hamburg.

Already this season Dortmund has demolished Darmstadt 6-0 at home and walloped Wolfsburg 5-1 in the Volkswagen-built city. Dortmund won 2-1 at Sporting in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday and most of its form lines are vastly superior to those of Ingolstadt. Dortmund and Ingolstadt have had one common German Bundesliga opponent this season – BVB drew 1-1 at home to Hertha, whereas the Schanzer lost an similar fixture 0-2. Clearly the German Bundesliga collateral form supports backing Dortmund to win on Saturday at odds of 1.57Bet €100 to win €15757/100Bet £100 to win £157-175Bet $100 to win $1570.57Bet HK$100 to win HK$157-1.75Bet Rp100 to win Rp1570.5700Bet RM100 to win RM157  with Coral and William Hill. Dortmund won last term’s corresponding German Bundesliga fixture 4-0 even though it did not break the deadlock until 10 minutes after half time.

One is still smarting about Leverkusen and Tottenham playing out a 0-0 UEFA Champions League draw but one is going to jump back on the both-teams-to-score bandwagon when the former hosts Hoffenheim in the German Bundesliga on Saturday.

Both sides have found the back of the net in five of Leverkusen’s seven German Bundesliga matches and eight of its 11 games across all competitions. Hoffenheim has fired off more German Bundesliga shots than every team except Bayern Munchen and only three sides – Darmstadt, Koln and Hamburg – have allowed opponents more attempts. Six of Hoffenheim’s seven German Bundesliga matches have not featured a clean sheet and both of last season’s league meetings between the Kraichgauer and Leverkusen resulted in joy for both-teams-to-score backers. Leverkusen won its German Bundesliga home game 2-1 and the Factory Team drew 1-1 on the road.

888Sport and Unibet are offering odds of 1.58Bet €100 to win €15829/50Bet £100 to win £158-172Bet $100 to win $1580.58Bet HK$100 to win HK$158-1.72Bet Rp100 to win Rp1580.5800Bet RM100 to win RM158  about Leverkusen and Hoffenheim continuing their fine attacking and poor defending form and one rates that as a good wager.

Finally, one suspects that Hertha and Koln are two of the German Bundesliga’s most overrated sides because their shot statistics are not what one associates with teams contending for honours. No German Bundesliga side has had fewer shots than Hertha and Koln ranks in the bottom eight as well. Just one team has given up more shots than Koln in the opening seven rounds of the German Bundesliga – Darmstadt – and Hertha ranks in the bottom half also. One cannot bring oneself to back either Hertha or Koln and, therefore, one thinks that there is decent value in the draw on Saturday at odds of 3.25Bet €100 to win €3259/4Bet £100 to win £325+225Bet $100 to win $3252.25Bet HK$100 to win HK$3252.25Bet Rp100 to win Rp325-0.4444Bet RM100 to win RM325  with BetVictor and Paddy Power.
