Sampaoli Has Cured Red and Whites of Travel Sickness

October 28, 2016

Sevilla won 3-2 at Leganes in their last La Liga away fixture.

Sevilla is the standout selection on what is a tough Spanish Primera Division now that the Red and Whites appear to have overcome their mental block associated with away games.

Twenty-two Spanish Primera Division road matches in a row resulted in Sevilla either drawing or losing until Pablo Sarabia’s 85th-minute goal at Leganes two weeks ago meant that the Red and Whites pocketed three away points for the first time since they triumphed 3-2 at Malaga in May 2015.

Sevilla is under new management this season and its decision to hire one of the world’s most attack-minded coaches, Jorge Sampaoli, looks increasingly like a smart one. Sampaoli was a defensive midfielder in his playing career but the teams that he has managed, including Chile’s national side, have been throughly entertaining to watch. Sampaoli is a disciple of another former Chile coach, Marcelo Bielsa, and the way that he coaches places a greater emphasis on energy and pressing than anything else. There is every chance that Sampaoli has changed Sevilla’s mindset when it comes to playing away from home, changing it for the better.

Five consecutive victories across all competitions should have confidence coursing through the veins of Sevilla’s players. Sevilla’s Saturday host, Gijon, has not won any of its last six meaningful games and the only team above the Red and Whites on the Spanish Primera Division ladder, Barcelona, smashed Sporting 5-0 on the road last month.

BetVictor is offering odds of 2.00Bet €100 to win €2001/1Bet £100 to win £200+100Bet $100 to win $2001.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$2001.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp2001.0000Bet RM100 to win RM200  about Sevilla defeating Gijon. One thinks that Sevilla would be well into odds-on territory if it was not for the fact that the Red and Whites failed to win a Spanish Primera Division away match last season. One is willing to bet that Sevilla is a different side this term and that it is going places under Sampaoli. And according to one’s Spanish Primera Division collateral form analysis, Sevilla holds a 2-1-1 advantage over Gijon.

Only the Spanish Primera Division’s big guns – Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid – have beaten Las Palmas in the Canary Islands this year and, therefore, one is interested in the Yellows at odds of 2.38Bet €100 to win €23869/50Bet £100 to win £238+138Bet $100 to win $2381.38Bet HK$100 to win HK$2381.38Bet Rp100 to win Rp238-0.7246Bet RM100 to win RM238  with several bookmakers, including Marathonbet, Paddy Power and William Hill, to earn three points against Celta on Sunday.

Celta’s most recent Spanish Primera Division road game ended in a 0-5 loss at Villarreal and last term’s match between Las Palmas and the Sky Blues in the Canary Islands resulted in a 2-1 home success for the Yellows. Furthermore, Las Palmas drew 3-3 at Celta earlier in the Spanish Primera Division season despite having Javi Varas sent off in the 11th minute – the Yellows trailed 1-3 at one stage as well.

Finally, Malaga’s injury woes are such that one does not fancy it to pose a serious threat to Atletico Madrid when the Anchovies tackle the Mattressers in the Spanish capital city on Saturday. Atletico is trading at the acceptable odds of 1.70Bet €100 to win €1707/10Bet £100 to win £170-143Bet $100 to win $1700.70Bet HK$100 to win HK$170-1.43Bet Rp100 to win Rp1700.7000Bet RM100 to win RM170  with BetVictor to register a home victory to nil.

Malaga has scored only three goals in its four Spanish Primera Division road games and the Anchovies scored two of them late on in their matches versus Espanyol and Alaves. Atletico Madrid is the first high-ranking Spanish Primera Division team that Malaga will visit and it could end badly for the Anchovies, which has all sorts of selection issues.
