Saddlers Good Value to Get Result at Misfiring Dons

November 12, 2016

Walsall have lost just once in the last eight games.

It would be difficult to make a case for Walsall being the most reliable prospect in English football, but they are overpriced on Saturday when they visit a faltering MK Dons side.

The Saddlers have put together a decent run of form over the last eight games, winning five, drawing two and losing just once – to Macclesfield in the FA Cup. They take on an MK Dons side which has lost five of the last six league games, and is on a downward spiral on the League One ladder.

League leaders Scunthorpe are also on the road, and they’ll be looking to extend their lead with three points. However, the Sky Blues have improved considerably in recent weeks and it will be a tough game. Meanwhile, we’re sweet on the chances of Northampton as they try to consolidate their place in the top six with a result at lowly Gillingham.

MK Dons v Walsall

First up it’s Walsall and a price of 2.00Bet €100 to win €2001/1Bet £100 to win £200+100Bet $100 to win $2001.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$2001.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp2001.0000Bet RM100 to win RM200  with Betway about them claiming at least a draw at MK Dons is too good to ignore.

Times have been tough for the Saddlers this term, but since losing 4-1 at home to Scunthorpe at the end of September, they’ve strung together a good run of results to move up to 12th in the table and stave off relegation concerns. League victories over Millwall, Shrewsbury and Swindon have been sandwiched between draws with Gillingham and Coventry to see them go five unbeaten. The only defeat throughout October and November has been the FA Cup reverse to Macclesfield, and they can go to MK Dons with confidence.

The Dons are hovering above the relegation zone, and are only out of the bottom four by virtue of goal difference. They’ve lost five of the last six league games, but it’s home form which is causing the most concern. Their only win in 16 home games was last week’s 3-2 FA Cup win over non-league Spennymoor, but that’s hardly a result to write home about.

Walsall are unbeaten in six on the road (three wins and three draws), and they’ve emerged victorious on three of their last four visits here. At even odds, they’re a great bet at the double chance.

Coventry v Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe will have their backers at Coventry, but the smart play may be over 2.5 goals at 2.12Bet €100 to win €21228/25Bet £100 to win £212+112Bet $100 to win $2121.12Bet HK$100 to win HK$2121.12Bet Rp100 to win Rp212-0.8929Bet RM100 to win RM212  with 188Bet.

The Sky Blues are still languishing in 18th place on the League One ladder, but they’ve only lost once in ten games – recording six wins and two draws in that sequence. On home soil they haven’t been beaten since a 1-0 reverse to Colchester back in March, and it’s four wins on the bounce in front of their own fans.

Scunthorpe lead the table by three points from next best Bolton, and they’ve won seven of the last ten games. Defeats have come at Charlton (FA Cup) and Oldham (League), while they were held to a 1-1 draw by Northampton. Away form has also been good with six wins, one draw and three defeats in the last ten road games. Seven of those have gone over 2.5 goals, and Saturday’s game at Coventry could go the same way.

Three of the Sky Blues last five home games have gone over the 2.5 goal line, and both teams will attack this game in search of three points.

Gillingham v Northampton

Finally, we’re backing Northampton at a big price when they go to Gillingham at 2.80Bet €100 to win €2809/5Bet £100 to win £280+180Bet $100 to win $2801.80Bet HK$100 to win HK$2801.80Bet Rp100 to win Rp280-0.5556Bet RM100 to win RM280  with Betfred.

It’s a risky proposition, but one worth taking at a decent price. The Cobblers may not be the most consistent side in the world, but they’ve put together three straight wins against Shrewsbury, Bury and Harrow (FA Cup), scoring 13 goals in the process. The midweek 1-1 draw with West Ham U23’s in the Checkatrade Trophy is easily ignored as neither side could qualify for the knockout stage, and the match was the definition of a ‘dead rubber’.

The Gills are opposed because they’ve managed to win just twice in the last 16 games. Those wins were at home to Coventry in the league and away at West Brom under-23’s in the Checkatrade Trophy. They’ve lost nine of those 16 matches, and are outside of the relegation zone by a single point.

Northampton hold sixth position and are mounting a promotion challenge, and their last away game resulted in a 4-2 win at Shrewsbury. At a big price, the Cobblers are well worth the punt.
