Swans, Eagles and Saints to Win AFL Head to Heads

March 20, 2017

Sydney Swans are good value to finish higher than Adelaide in the AFL.

Season-long head-to-head markets provide punters with good opportunities to defeat bookmakers and Bet365 may regret offering such Australian Football League options.

Bet365, which is highly active in Australia, has framed 12 Australian Football League regular season head to heads and one thinks that three of them represent great betting value.

Sydney, which went into last season’s Australian Football League grand final as the favourite, is the most rounded team in the competition. Sydney’s defence is tight, its midfield is combative and its forward line is led by the Australian Football League’s most dynamic target man, Lance Franklin. Sydney is in an Australian Football League premiership window so it has not mucked about with its roster and one is expecting Issac Heeney and Callum Mills to become Swans superstars this term.

No Australian Football League side scored more heavily than Adelaide in 2016 but the Crows were reliant on Patrick Dangerfield in midfield and too often came up short versus high-quality teams. Adelaide may run up cricket scores against some of the Australian Football League’s lightweights but it is unlikely to win as many big games as Sydney. Adelaide won one fewer Australian Football League match than Sydney last season and one cannot see the Crows closing that gap. Sydney is available at odds of 1.72Bet €100 to win €17218/25Bet £100 to win £172-139Bet $100 to win $1720.72Bet HK$100 to win HK$172-1.39Bet Rp100 to win Rp1720.7200Bet RM100 to win RM172  with Bet365 to finish the Australian Football League regular term higher on the ladder than Adelaide.

Bet365 is offering odds of 1.80Bet €100 to win €1804/5Bet £100 to win £180-125Bet $100 to win $1800.80Bet HK$100 to win HK$180-1.25Bet Rp100 to win Rp1800.8000Bet RM100 to win RM180  about West Coast posting a higher Australian Football League regular term finish than Hawthorn and that is too good to miss as well. West Coast conducted the smartest bit of business during the close season, acquiring the services of Hawthorn legend Sam Mitchell for the equivalent of a low-value draft pick. Mitchell was not the only high-profile departure from Hawthorn during the summer months, with Jordan Lewis permitted to join Melbourne. Hawthorn’s ageing list means that Hawks coach Alistair Clarkson has to rebuild to some extent but, in the short term, the most successful team of recent years is likely to go backwards. Like Sydney, West Coast is in an Australian Football League premiership window, with the Eagles being strong in all areas. West Coast’s home advantage is one of the Australian Football League’s greatest so one can almost bank on the Eagles winning at least 90 per cent of their games in Perth.

One’s final Australian Football League head-to-head wager with Bet365 is St Kilda to get the better of Port Adelaide at odds of 1.85Bet €100 to win €18517/20Bet £100 to win £185-118Bet $100 to win $1850.85Bet HK$100 to win HK$185-1.18Bet Rp100 to win Rp1850.8500Bet RM100 to win RM185 . Two victories separated St Kilda and Port Adelaide at the end of the last Australian Football League regular term and the consensus among most fans is that the Saints are a potential finals side but the Power are not. St Kilda has been building towards an Australian Football League premiership challenge under Allan Richardson. Port Adelaide was very disappointing in last season’s Australian Football League and the acid is on Power boss Ken Hinkley.

One was very surprised to see Bet365 match up St Kilda and Port Adelaide because they seems to be Australian Football League teams heading in opposite directions. St Kilda boasts an improving, young midfield, Nick Riewoldt continues to roll back the years in forward areas and the Saints have recruited Jake Carlisle from Essendon to play in defence. Port Adelaide is a one-dimensional side that Australian Football League teams worked out big time in 2016.
