The Masters: Rose, Garcia Lead Into Final Round

April 9, 2017

Justin Rose and Sergio Garcia hold a joint-lead at the top of The Masters leaderboard after day three of the competition.

The Spaniard started the day on four-under in a four-way tie for the lead, but only he managed to maintain his position heading into the final round at Augusta.

Rose produced the performance of the day to come surging through the field, especially on the back nine, handing him the chance to win the green jacket for the first time in his career.

Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler are breathing down the necks of the Europeans, with Fowler positioned one shot behind the duo, while the 2015 champion is two strokes off the pace.

Charley Hoffman fell away towards the end of his round, but has a fighting chance in a group of players four-under on the tournament.

We’ll now take a look at the best odds for the final day of the tournament to see who will claim the green jacket at The Masters in 2017.

Justin Rose

Rose started the day on one-under for the competition, but was pegged back early in his round with bogey on the par-five second.

However, he brought himself back below par by notching his first birdie of Saturday on the third, but struggled to maintain his form, slipping back with another bogey on the sixth.

The Englishman found his rhythm on the eighth with a fine birdie, sending him into the back nine with momentum.

Rose grasped the nettle after the turn with some sublime shots, especially on his approach, while his putting was dead-on towards the end of the round.

The 36-year-old notched back-to-back birdies on Amen Corner before striking again at the 15th.

He ended his round on the highest of notes with another back-to-back special, sending two putts right down the centre of the hole on 17 and 18.

Rose’s experience at winning the US Open in 2013 will stand him in good stead to cope with the pressure. As a result, backing him at odds of 4.00Bet €100 to win €4003/1Bet £100 to win £400+300Bet $100 to win $4003.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$4003.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp400-0.3333Bet RM100 to win RM400  to triumph on the final day with BetFred would be a smart option.

Sergio Garcia

Garcia is the nearly-man of the majors. The Spaniard has come close on so many occasions to securing his first slam, but has never been able to seal the deal.

He has been consistent on the opening three days in Augusta, but his problems in the past have come on the fourth day.

Nerves have always been issue, although he appears to be as relaxed as he has ever felt entering a major competition and this could be the moment he makes his breakthrough.

Entering the day four-under and teeing off last, he will have been forced to watch other players tear around the course, including Spieth on the surge. However, he made a solid start and notched his first birdie of the day on the fifth, only to suffer a setback on the seventh with a bogey.

The Spaniard gained then dropped a shot on the eighth and ninth, sending him onto the back nine with an inconsistent burst.

He righted the ship and remained steady around Amen Corner, notching a birdie on the 13th and again on the 15th, preparing himself for the stretch run. The Spaniard was composed with the putter to nail all of his par putts to enter the final day with a share of the lead.

Garcia has imploded in the past on the final day of majors, none more so than his miss on the 18th in the 2007 Open, with the ball rolling off the lip of the hole.

He has to get over the line eventually and backing him at 5.50Bet €100 to win €5509/2Bet £100 to win £550+450Bet $100 to win $5504.50Bet HK$100 to win HK$5504.50Bet Rp100 to win Rp550-0.2222Bet RM100 to win RM550  with bet365 seems a decent bet, considering it would be have the great Spaniard Seve Ballesteros’ 60th birthday on Sunday.

Rickie Fowler

Fowler has been in good form throughout the season and displayed glimpses of his best at the Houston Open.

His play and character have remained strong on the opening three days of The Masters, battling back from a disappointing finish to his first round and has since kept his foot on the peddle to keep pace with the men at the top of the leaderboard.

The American is just one shot off the Europeans and will aim to close that gap immediately to put the pressure on.

Fowler was far from his best on day three, struggling for consistency, although his good moments managed to outweigh the negative ones.

Two bogeys on the front nine limited his progress, despite notching birdies at the second and fourth. Another error at the 10th set him back, but he rallied towards the end with another two strikes at 13 and 15 to put him in contention.

Fowler has never won a major before, but has threatened in the past. He only needs to put it together on Sunday to claim the green jacket. At odds of 5.60Bet €100 to win €56023/5Bet £100 to win £560+460Bet $100 to win $5604.60Bet HK$100 to win HK$5604.60Bet Rp100 to win Rp560-0.2174Bet RM100 to win RM560  with Marathon Bet, he’s certainly good value for the crown.

Jordan Spieth

You can’t have the final day of The Masters without the 23-year-old. When he has competed at the tournament Spieth has not failed to finish below second place, highlighting his quality at the event.

The American will remember all too well about his collapse on the back nine last year when he seemed on course to retain the green jacket, only to hand Danny Willett the title.

Spieth will be determined to exorcise his demons by winning the crown for a second time with a sublime performance on Sunday. After a difficult first round, which included a quadruple-bogey on the 15th, he has been simply sensational – notching a three-under round on Friday.

He followed that up with a four-under display on Saturday, carding five birdies, making only one error on the par-three 16th.

When the American is in this sort of form – it’s extremely hard to bet against him. He left some strokes out on the course, missing two makeable putts for eagle and birdie on his round.

Expect him to tighten his game up for Sunday and make a surge for the crown at odds of 4.50Bet €100 to win €4507/2Bet £100 to win £450+350Bet $100 to win $4503.50Bet HK$100 to win HK$4503.50Bet Rp100 to win Rp450-0.2857Bet RM100 to win RM450  with BetVictor.

Best Of The Rest

Rory McIlroy has endured a frustrating time at The Masters thus far. His fortunes were summed up at the end of his second round when his second shot on the 18th hit the flag and bounced back off the green.

Life has not improved much for him since then. He was composed enough down the stretch to give himself a fighting chance at even par on the final day, and considering his talent a punt of 41.00Bet €100 to win €410040/1Bet £100 to win £4100+4000Bet $100 to win $410040.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$410040.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp4100-0.0250Bet RM100 to win RM4100  with SkyBet could be worth a small wager.

Hoffman was outstanding on the first day of the competition with his seven-under performance and since then has produced some excellent strokes.

However, the consistency of his play has wavered and under the pressure appeared to crack after moving seven-under, hitting his tee shot into the water on the 16th. Should he find his form of day one – then at odds of 23.00Bet €100 to win €230022/1Bet £100 to win £2300+2200Bet $100 to win $230022.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$230022.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp2300-0.0455Bet RM100 to win RM2300  with William Hill, he’s worth the punt.

Like Speith – Adam Scott had a horrendous opening round on Thursday, carding a three-over display. However, the 2013 champion has battled back with two three-under displays to put him in contention.

His putting was not at its best on Saturday, but if continues to put impressive approach shots into the greens then he will be rewarded on his final round.

The 36-year-old has the experience to make up the three-shot deficit and at odds of 16.00Bet €100 to win €160015/1Bet £100 to win £1600+1500Bet $100 to win $160015.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$160015.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp1600-0.0667Bet RM100 to win RM1600 with MarathonBet is definitely one to watch.
