The Masters: Rose, Garcia Lead Into Final Round

Justin Rose and Sergio Garcia hold a joint-lead at the top of The Masters leaderboard after day three of the competition.

The Spaniard started the day on four-under in a four-way tie for the lead, but only he managed to maintain his position heading into the final round at Augusta.

Rose produced the performance of the day to come surging through the field, especially on the back nine, handing him the chance to win the green jacket for the first time in his career.

Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler are breathing down the necks of the Europeans, with Fowler positioned one shot behind the duo, while the 2015 champion is two strokes off the pace.

Charley Hoffman fell away towards the end of his round, but has a fighting chance in a group of players four-under on the tournament.

Justin Rose

Rose started the day on one-under for the competition, but was pegged back early in his round with bogey on the par-five second.

Sergio Garcia

Garcia is the nearly-man of the majors. The Spaniard has come close on so many occasions to securing his first slam, but has never been able to seal the deal.

The Spaniard gained then dropped a shot on the eighth and ninth, sending him onto the back nine with an inconsistent burst.

He righted the ship and remained steady around Amen Corner, notching a birdie on the 13^th and again on the 15^th, preparing himself for the stretch run. The Spaniard was composed with the putter to nail all of his par putts to enter the final day with a share of the lead.

Garcia has imploded in the past on the final day of majors, none more so than his miss on the 18^th in the 2007 Open, with the ball rolling off the lip of the hole.

You can’t have the final day of The Masters without the 23-year-old. When he has competed at the tournament Spieth has not failed to finish below second place, highlighting his quality at the event.

Spieth will be determined to exorcise his demons by winning the crown for a second time with a sublime performance on Sunday. After a difficult first round, which included a quadruple-bogey on the 15^th, he has been simply sensational – notching a three-under round on Friday.

He followed that up with a four-under display on Saturday, carding five birdies, making only one error on the par-three 16^th.
