Unlucky Punter One Goal Short of £215,000 Fortune

April 13, 2017

One punter almost scooped a fortune last Saturday.

One of Sports Betting Online’s members has been in touch this week to let us know about an oh-so-close accumulator that almost landed him a life-changing sum of money!

The unlucky punter placed a £10 10-fold on last week’s football matches and was just one goal away from a £215,914.90 pay out! With nine out of ten winners on his betting slip, the only result that let him down was a Result/Both teams to score bet on the Leeds versus Preston match last Saturday.

Our maverick gambler correctly predicted that Leeds would win, but also needed Preston to score to make the bet a winner. Leeds duly did the business by surging into a two-goal lead by half-time, but North End couldn’t find a consolation in the second-half. Their misery was compounded as Alex Baptiste was red-carded in the 86th minute, and Leeds added a third in stoppage time to add insult to injury.

As you can see from the betting slip pictured, our punter had the following bets:

A bet that nearly won a fortune!

Man City to beat Hull & BTTS – Won
Chelsea to beat Bournemouth & BTTS – Won
Leeds to beat Preston & BTTS – Lost
Cardiff to beat Brentford & BTTS – Won
Fulham to beat Ipswich & BTTS – Won
Sheffield United to beat Northampton & BTTS – Won
Stoke v Liverpool BTTS – Won
Everton v Leicester BTTS – Won
Wigan v Rotherham BTTS – Won
Sheffield Wednesday v Newcastle BTTS – Won

It will come as scant consolation to our punter, but at least he placed his bet with William Hill. The bookmaker refunds your stake as a free bet if one leg of an accumulator lets you down. A free £10 bet might have softened the blow a little bit, but just think what could have been with a £215,914.90 win!

Do you have any hard luck stories to tell? Or have you hit the jackpot and smashed the bookies for a small fortune?

At Sports Betting Online we love to hear about the trials and tribulations of our members, so get in touch and let us know about your betting stories!

Even if our unlucky punter had won, he’d still struggle to afford a seat at the world’s most prestigious sporting events. Check out the insane price of the most expensive sports tickets on earth.
