Juventus to Prove They’re Turin’s Top Dogs in Derby

May 5, 2017

Juventus and Torino meet in the Turin derby this weekend.

Juventus has a 100 per cent Italian Serie A home record and victory over city rival Torino would put the defending champion within touching distance of another title.

Wednesday’s 2-0 UEFA Champions League semi-final first-leg win at Monaco means that Juventus has more than one feet in the final of that competition and it can afford to throw the kitchen sink at Torino in its Italian Serie A home derby.

Torino is ninth on the Italian Serie A ladder and it has won more three more matches than it has lost, scoring 64 goals to be the division’s fourth highest scorer. But, according to one’s Italian Serie A collateral form analysis, the gap between Juventus and Torino is even larger than the ladder suggests – the Old Lady enjoys a 16-1-2 advantage over the Maroons and advantages do not get much better than that.

Torino’s Italian Serie A away numbers are the 11th best in the tournament and the primary reason that the Maroons have won just four of their 17 road games is that their defence has more holes than a colander. Torino has leaked 55 goals in its 34 Italian Serie A matches, keeping only five clean sheets irrespective of venue. Torino lost 1-3 to Juventus in December’s reverse Italian Serie A fixture and the Maroons have an appalling derby record across all competitions – they have lost 11 of their last 12 games against the Old Lady, winning just one such match since 1996.

Juventus is available at odds of 1.53Bet €100 to win €15353/100Bet £100 to win £153-189Bet $100 to win $1530.53Bet HK$100 to win HK$153-1.89Bet Rp100 to win Rp1530.5300Bet RM100 to win RM153  with Betway and Betfair to get the better of Torino on Saturday and leave Roma needing to win all its remaining Italian Serie A games to have any chance of stopping the Old Lady claiming a sixth straight championship, something that they have not done before.

Aside from tipping Juventus to do what it usually does versus Torino, one fancies that Sunday’s Italian Serie A matches between Lazio and Sampdoria and Udinese and Atalanta will be relatively high scoring by the league’s standards.

Bookmakers are quoting short odds about the Italian Serie A game between Lazio and Sampdoria going over two and a half goals so one is going to suggest backing both teams to score at 188Bet‘s offer of 1.71Bet €100 to win €17171/100Bet £100 to win £171-141Bet $100 to win $1710.71Bet HK$100 to win HK$171-1.41Bet Rp100 to win Rp1710.7100Bet RM100 to win RM171 . Lazio was good value for its 3-1 Italian Serie A away victory over its city rival, Roma, last weekend and it followed on from its 6-2 home thrashing of relegation candidate Palermo seven days prior. Lazio has scored in 26 of its 34 Italian Serie A matches, including finding the back of the net in 10 of its last 12 league games regardless of venue. Sampdoria is bumming around the middle of the Italian Serie A ladder but it has scored in 28 of its 34 matches, including 15 of its 17 away games. Lazio beat Sampdoria 2-1 in Genoa in December’s reverse Italian Serie A fixture, winning the match before half time.

Good odds are on offer of 1.71Bet €100 to win €17171/100Bet £100 to win £171-141Bet $100 to win $1710.71Bet HK$100 to win HK$171-1.41Bet Rp100 to win Rp1710.7100Bet RM100 to win RM171  about Udinese and Atalanta each getting onto the scoresheet when they meet in Sunday’s lunchtime Italian Serie A game. Udinese has scored in 15 of its 17 Italian Serie A home matches, firing blanks against only Roma and Lazio. Atalanta, which is in a great position to secure a UEFA Europa League spot, has netted at least one goal in 29 of its 34 Italian Serie A games, including 14 of its 17 road matches. December’s reverse Italian Serie A fixture ended in a 3-1 away victory for Udinese so the Little Zebras have nothing to fear from the Goddess even though the former are long odds to collect three points.
