Havana Grey Far too Good for Rivals at Ayr

May 8, 2017

Havana Grey has every chance of success at Ayr on Monday.

A happy Saturday for all SBO Racing followers, as we landed the double with our selections both sauntering clear of their rivals to win in facile fashion. A couple of strong fancies today, which will help kick the week off in profit:

2:00 Ayr – Havana Grey

There are odds on shots who occasionally represent value, and we have found one in the potentially very smart Havana Grey from the Karl Burke yard. The dogs were definitely barking before the 2 year old son of Havana Gold made his debut at Nottingham and after going off an especially strong favourite, Burke’s runner was denied success by a narrow margin. Even in defeat the effort was strong, with an RPR of 82 recorded. In what looks a weaker contest at Ayr, Havana Grey has a golden opportunity to go one better than on debut, and hit the winners enclosure.

On debut at Nottingham, Havana Grey showed a good deal of speed and smarts to sit up in the van early and lead the speed. When the horse came under pressure, he ran a little green, and eventually succumbed to a Richard Fahey runner. Nottingham is a speed track much like Ayr, so the experience of a similar course should definitely bolster the horses’ chances. Karl Burke usually leaves plenty to work on with his horses, and they have a fantastic record second time out as 2 year olds; 40/199 (20%) for £110 LSP, with the horses winning 50% more often than they should based on odds.

The main danger in the race appears to be the Mark Johnston trained Go Now Go Now. By Kodiac, this horse looks all speed judging by his pedigree, and Johnston always has some success with his new coming juveniles. However, he will have to be pretty smart to beat our selection. Havana Grey is backed at 1.72Bet €100 to win €17218/25Bet £100 to win £172-139Bet $100 to win $1720.72Bet HK$100 to win HK$172-1.39Bet Rp100 to win Rp1720.7200Bet RM100 to win RM172  with Bet365Ladbrokes and Coral

7.50 Windsor – Prendergast Hill

The second of our selections comes in the form of the Ed De Giles trained Prendergast Hill. The horse is favourite for the 10 furlong, Class 4 handicap at Windsor, but even at odds of 2.88Bet €100 to win €28847/25Bet £100 to win £288+188Bet $100 to win $2881.88Bet HK$100 to win HK$2881.88Bet Rp100 to win Rp288-0.5319Bet RM100 to win RM288  with William Hill and SkyBet he appears a value bet. After a more than satisfactory seasonal reappearance runs (finished second), the horse should be spot on for this race and will appreciate the return to the turf.

Prendergast Hill is a progressive horse who showed his best form last year on fast ground. The horse has shown a particular affinity for Windsor and won over today’s course and distance last July.
