Beatbox Rhythm Setting the Tune at Pontefract

August 9, 2017

Pontefract host the racing and our best bet on Wednesday.

2.40 Pontefract – Beatbox Rhythm

The 2.40 6 Furlong maiden at Pontefract looks a hot affair with several sexy yards having runners. Stoute, Johnston and Fahey are all represented, but they will have to go some to lower the colours of the market leader Beatbox Rhythm. A fine second on debut, Karl Burke’s juvenile has plenty going for him, and it will take a smart newcomer to lower his colours. His odds seem a little too big, and he could be closer to even money come the off. He is a strong fancy for the SBO Racing team.

Karl Burke’s 2-year olds invariably improve dramatically for their racecourse debuts, so anything that they do at first time of asking has to be considered a bonus. Beatbox Rhythm was very well supported at Doncaster when he ran, which suggested that the yard considered he was a talented horse. The horse showed plenty of early pace and led the field for the majority of the contest before an unfancied outsider seemed to outstay the son of Beat Hollow late in the day. Doncaster is notoriously a track which tests the stamina as it is galloping and straight in nature and that early pace and speed that our selection possesses, will be seen to better effect at Pontefract.

As already mentioned, Burke’s 2 year olds come on a lot from seeing a track for the first time. His second time out runners are very profitable; 44/197 (22%) for £126 LSP. His entrants score on average 55% more often than they are entitled to based on odds. Beatbox Rhythm has a great draw in stall 3, as low number do well in sprints at Pontefract. Front-runners are also favoured at the Yorkshire track, so we expect the horse to make all at 2.88Bet €100 to win €28847/25Bet £100 to win £288+188Bet $100 to win $2881.88Bet HK$100 to win HK$2881.88Bet Rp100 to win Rp288-0.5319Bet RM100 to win RM288  with BetVictor.

3.30 Bath – Argenterie

There are a couple of last time out winners in the 10 furlong, Class 3 handicap at Bath racecourse, however, the value in the field appears to be with the third favourite, Argenterie. Marcus Tregoning’s 3-year-old chestnut filly has potential to improve over this trip and she looks like a solid each-way bet who could maybe sneak a victory. The odds of 8.50Bet €100 to win €85015/2Bet £100 to win £850+750Bet $100 to win $8507.50Bet HK$100 to win HK$8507.50Bet Rp100 to win Rp850-0.1333Bet RM100 to win RM850  with Coral and BetVictor mean we can turn a profit for getting a place.

Argenterie put in an eye-catching performance on debut at Goodwood, finishing third at huge odds. The horse improved significantly for that first effort at the track and he fairly dismantled the field at Salisbury, winning by just shy of 4 lengths. On his final start of the season, the horse raced in a Group Two and didn’t disgrace himself. After a winter break, the horse came back over 11.5 furlongs at Chester and never showed up, but that was in a very hot race, probably on a track that wasn’t ideal and over a trip that was maybe a little too far. This time around, the horse should be fitter, he should enjoy the 10 furlongs, and the more galloping course will also benefit the daughter of Archipenko.

Marcus Tregoning does very well with his handicappers who are fresh at the track. Those horses who have been off for 6+ weeks are very profitable; 43/237 (18%) for £55 LSP, giving an A/E of 1.58.
