Juventus to Secure Another Italian Super Cup

August 11, 2017

Juventus have won their last seven matches against Lazio.

The Italian Super Cup is the traditional curtain-raiser for the Serie A season. The Stadio Olimpico in Rome will host this season’s renewal as Juventus take on Lazio on Sunday night. The Old Lady won both league and cup last season, and Lazio are the opponents by virtue of being the beaten finalist in the Coppa Italia. It will be the third time in five years that the two teams have gone head-to-head in this match, and the sixth consecutive season Juventus have appeared in the Super Cup.

The match will be live on TV on Sunday evening as Juve attempt to win it for the fourth time over the last six seasons. They’ve been beaten twice in this competition recent seasons – by AC Milan in 2016 and Napoli in 2014. On neither occasion did they lose the match over 90 minutes, with both going to penalties after finishing all square. Higuain and Tevez both notched a brace in the 2-2 draw in 2014 before Napoli went on to be victorious on spot kicks; while last season saw the Super Cup end in a 1-1 draw with Milan, Juventus again losing out from 12 yards.

The two wins against Lazio in 2013 and 2015 were both wrapped up inside 90 minutes – a continuation of Juve’s general dominance over Lazio in recent seasons. Pogba and Tevez were among the goals in the 4-0 Super Cup victory in 2013, while Mandzukic and Dybala were the scorers in the 2-0 win of 2015. Lazio failed to score in either game and that’s a recurring theme when these two sides meet. Juventus have won the last seven games against Lazio without conceding a goal, and they are unbeaten in the last 14 meetings. You have to go back to a cup match in May 2015 for the last time Lazio scored against Juve, while their last victory over the Old Lady was as far back as January 2013.

With that in mind odds of 1.93Bet €100 to win €19393/100Bet £100 to win £193-108Bet $100 to win $1930.93Bet HK$100 to win HK$193-1.08Bet Rp100 to win Rp1930.9300Bet RM100 to win RM193  with Marathonbet about a Juventus win make plenty of appeal.

A dismal end to last season saw Lazio lose four in a row – three league games and the 2-0 Coppa Italia final defeat to Juve. They can at least point to a positive preseason which has seen them win four matches conceding just once in the process. That run includes friendly wins over Bayer Leverkusen and Malaga, two sides of a good standard in terms of European football.

Juve’s preseason has been rather indifferent, but they have been playing in some high profile friendly competitions. They lost 2-1 to Barcelona in the International Champions Cup, before beating PSG 3-2 and drawing 1-1 with Roma (won on penalties). They have since lost a preseason friendly 2-0 against Tottenham.

This is a return to more competitive action and Juventus are strongly fancied to get back to winning ways and start the season with yet another trophy. Punters who are attracted to bigger odds might want to consider backing the Old Lady to win the game to nil at 3.15Bet €100 to win €31543/20Bet £100 to win £315+215Bet $100 to win $3152.15Bet HK$100 to win HK$3152.15Bet Rp100 to win Rp315-0.4651Bet RM100 to win RM315  with 188Bet. As stated, they have gone seven games versus Lazio without conceding a goal, winning on each occasion. They do seem to have a hold over this rival and a continuation of that run would hardly be a surprise.
