Slavia to Right the Wrong of UCL First Leg

August 22, 2017

Slavia Prague lost 2-0 at APOEL in the first leg of their UCL qualifer.

Slavia Praha was unlucky to lose its UEFA Champions League play-offs first leg against APOEL in Cyprus and represents decent value to exact some revenge in the Czech Republic.

APOEL netted two goals in the opening 10 minutes of last week’s UEFA Champions League play-offs first leg before being indebted to its goalkeeper, Boy Waterman, and the woodwork. APOEL beat Slavia Praha 2-0 but, according to UEFA’s number crunchers, the latter led total attempts 13-5, on-target attempts 5-3 and corner kicks 6-5. On any number of statistics, Slavia did not deserve to lose at APOEL.

In the last UEFA Champions League round, APOEL lost 0-1 at Viitorul and the Legend have won only one of their last six road games in the competition, including failing to beat The New Saints of Wales in July 2016. Slavia Praha has won each of its last four competitive home matches, including posting a 1-0 win over BATE in the last UEFA Champions League round.

Marathonbet is offering odds of 1.64Bet €100 to win €16416/25Bet £100 to win £164-156Bet $100 to win $1640.64Bet HK$100 to win HK$164-1.56Bet Rp100 to win Rp1640.6400Bet RM100 to win RM164  about Slavia Praha winning a UEFA Champions League play-offs second leg on Wednesday that APOEL can afford to lose, not that the Legend may have much of a say in the matter if the return game ends up having a similar set of statistics as the first match.

Unlike Slavia Praha, Sevilla got its just desserts in last week’s UEFA Champions League play-offs first legs, beating Istanbul Basaksehir 2-1 in Turkey. Sevilla led Basaksehir 1-0 until the host scored against the run of play on the break but the White and Reds bagged a late winner to put themselves within touching distance of the UEFA Champions League group stage. Basaksehir has come a very long way in a very short period of time but it is likely to come a cropper having to chase an important UEFA Champions League tie away to Sevilla, one of Europe’s strongest home performers.

Juventus in November was the last team to win at Sevilla in any tournament so it is asking an awful lot of an Istanbul Basaksehir side that has lost back-to-back games to come back from Spain with anything other than another defeat.

Sevilla is available at odds of 1.47Bet €100 to win €14747/100Bet £100 to win £147-213Bet $100 to win $1470.47Bet HK$100 to win HK$147-2.13Bet Rp100 to win Rp1470.4700Bet RM100 to win RM147  with BetStars and, with Istanbul Basaksehir having to throw caution to the wind as it needs at least two goals in normal time to remain in the UEFA Champions League, the White and Reds should have plenty of opportunities to score on the counter on Wednesday.

If there is a bet to be struck in the UEFA Champions League play-offs second leg between Astana and Celtic on Tuesday it is the home team to have more corner kicks than the away side at odds of 1.41Bet €100 to win €14141/100Bet £100 to win £141-244Bet $100 to win $1410.41Bet HK$100 to win HK$141-2.44Bet Rp100 to win Rp1410.4100Bet RM100 to win RM141  with 188Bet and Unibet.

Even though Astana lost 0-5 at Celtic in the UEFA Champions League play-offs first legs, the Kazakh Premier League title holder had two more corner kicks than their Scottish hosts. Celtic has nothing to gain from overexerting itself in the UEFA Champions League play-offs second leg because of the state of the tie and Astana’s home advantage is significant because the Astana Arena has an artificial surface on which stronger sides than the Bhoys have struggled to compete.
