Black Cats to Take Care of Tykes in Championship

August 24, 2017

Sunderland have performed better on their travels than at home this term.

Sunderland haven’t had a wonderful start to life in the Championship, and not many punters are bold enough to predict a first-time return to the Premier League based on the evidence so far. The Black Cats have struggled to break sides down at the Stadium of Light, as they discover what it is like to be a’big club’ in this division. They’ve performed better on the road so far, and claimed an impressive 3-1 win against Norwich at Carrow Road recently. That was their only victory this season, and another away tie beckons this weekend at Barnsley.

Our tips this week also include two other sides hopeful of promotion – Cardiff and Norwich. The Bluebirds weren’t many people’s tip for the title prior to the season, but a blistering start has seen them surge to the top of the pile after just four games. Norwich meanwhile, were tipped by plenty of punters to be in the fight for promotion, but the Canaries are in the lowly position of 17th after gaining just one win so far. They travel to Millwall, who are back in the Championship after coming up from League One last term.

Barnsley v Sunderland

The headline tip this weekend is Sunderland, who can make it a successful trip to Yorkshire by taking three points off Barnsley at 2.10Bet €100 to win €21011/10Bet £100 to win £210+110Bet $100 to win $2101.10Bet HK$100 to win HK$2101.10Bet Rp100 to win Rp210-0.9091Bet RM100 to win RM210  with Betfred and BetStars.

The Black Cats were left 12th in the table after last week’s surprise 2-0 home defeat to Leeds, which also took away their unbeaten record. Previously they’d been held to 1-1 draws at home by Derby, and away at Sheffield Wednesday, those results either side of the win at Norwich. They’ve also won two road games in the Carabao Cup, beating Bury and more recently Carlisle in the opening rounds.

Barnsley have lost three of four Championship games, away at Bristol City and Sheffield United and at home to Ipswich. Their only three points came from a home win over Nottingham Forest, and the Tykes are already hovering above the early relegation zone.

Millwall v Norwich

These two sides could be teams to follow in terms of goals this season, and odds of 1.91Bet €100 to win €19191/100Bet £100 to win £191-110Bet $100 to win $1910.91Bet HK$100 to win HK$191-1.10Bet Rp100 to win Rp1910.9100Bet RM100 to win RM191  with 188Bet about over 2.5 goals are worth snapping up.

The Lions already find themselves in quite deep trouble, having failed to secure a win yet this season. they took part in a remarkable game at the Den against Ipswich two weeks ago, eventually going down 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller. They’ve been more miserly in other matches but if they intend to stay up this year, they will need to win home games and that suggests an attacking approach.

Norwich have carried on their form from last season of featuring in high-scoring games, and four of their last five matches have had four or more goals. They beat Charlton 4-1 in the Carabao Cup in midweek, but were on the receiving end of a 4-2 drubbing by Aston Villa the previous week.

Four of the last five meetings between Millwall and Norwich have seen three or more goals, and the other ended 1-1.

Cardiff v QPR

Finally, let’s stick with Cardiff who can make it five wins on the bounce against QPR at odds of 1.80Bet €100 to win €1804/5Bet £100 to win £180-125Bet $100 to win $1800.80Bet HK$100 to win HK$180-1.25Bet Rp100 to win Rp1800.8000Bet RM100 to win RM180  with Betway.

The Bluebirds relinquished their unbeaten record this season in the Carabao Cup defeat to Burton in midweek, but remain 100% in the league. That includes victories against Aston Villa, and this season’s surprise package Wolverhampton Wanderers. Neil Warnock has built a good side and is a master at creating a team ethic. Cardiff are expected to be on the front foot in home games this term, and they will often be a good bet in Wales.

QPR have had a positive start so far this term, and are currently 6th in the fledgling table. They’ve scored home wins over Reading and Hull, as well as a solid away point at Sheffield Wednesday. The only defeat they’ve suffered was a 2-0 reverse at Norwich.
