Total Football is a Total Disaster for the Eagles

September 7, 2017

Frank de Boer has lost his first three games in charge of Crystal Palace.

Frank de Boer does not have the cattle to play the type of football with which he grew up in the Netherlands and his relationship with Crystal Palace looks set to end in tears.

According to media reports, De Boer could be as little as one more bad result from the sack as Crystal Palace boss, which is remarkable given that the Eagles hired him to succeed Sam Allardyce during the summer months. Crystal Palace has been shambolic in its English Premier League losses to Huddersfield and Swansea and, while the Eagles were passable against Liverpool, still they lost 0-1 at Anfield. There is talk that De Boer will simplify things when Crystal Palace tackles Burnley on Sunday but one does not think that the former Netherlands defender’s ego will allow that to happen. De Boer is committed to Crystal Palace playing total football and that is simply impossible with the Eagles squad that Allardyce assembled. And it does not help De Boer’s job security that Crystal Palace’s star attacker, Wilfried Zaha, will not run out at Turf Moor.

Burnley, which has beaten Chelsea and held Tottenham in the first three English Premier League rounds, did the double over Crystal Palace in last season’s competition and Sean Dyche’s no-nonsense attitude is likely to result in a no-nonsense gameplan for his Clarets team. One expects Burnley to press Crystal Palace relentlessly and for the Clarets to look to capitalise on Eagles errors in the latter’s own half. New Burnley striker Chris Wood is expected to make his full Clarets debut after scoring against Tottenham off the bench before the recent break.

Chelsea has, over the course of about 15 months, ripped the heart of Leicester’s English Premier League title-winning midfield, first recruiting N’Golo Kante and more recently securing the services of Danny Drinkwater. Chelsea has recovered from its first round disaster versus Burnley to post back-to-back English Premier League victories over Tottenham and Everton and the Blues registered a couple of 3-0 top-flight triumphs over Leicester last term.

Craig Shakespeare’s honeymoon period looks like it is over with the Leicester manager experiencing heartache in the transfer market, most notably regarding the ineligibility of Adrien Silva until January until FIFA relents. Leicester has won the matches that it was expected to win and lost the matches that it was expected to lose across all competitions this season and the Foxes are expected to lose to Chelsea.

Odds on everywhere, Chelsea is trading at 1.80Bet €100 to win €1804/5Bet £100 to win £180-125Bet $100 to win $1800.80Bet HK$100 to win HK$180-1.25Bet Rp100 to win Rp1800.8000Bet RM100 to win RM180  with many bookmakers, including Betfred and William Hill, to beat Leicester on Saturday for the third time in a row.

Liverpool boasts an excellent recent record against English Premier League championship favourite Manchester City and that has a lot to do with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who has terrific numbers versus City coach Pep Guardiola.

Unbeaten in the last six meetings between Liverpool and Manchester City, the Reds are listed at odds of 2.00Bet €100 to win €2001/1Bet £100 to win £200+100Bet $100 to win $2001.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$2001.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp2001.0000Bet RM100 to win RM200  with Bet365 not to lose at Etihad Stadium in Saturday’s English Premier League round opener. Liverpool has the firepower to go goal for goal with Manchester City and, now that the transfer window has slammed shut until after Christmas, Philippe Coutinho should concentrate on enhancing his reputation with more great performances for the Reds.
