Falcons, Steelers, Titans All To Win In Week One

September 8, 2017

The NFL season gets into full flow on Sunday as the majority of the 32 sides begin their campaigns.

The Kansas City Chiefs stunned the New England Patriots in the opener, putting 42 points on the defending Super Bowl champions. However, the rest of the field enters the fray and will be determined to make an impact.

We’ll now break down which sides should be in your accumulator for the opening week of the campaign.

Atlanta Falcons @ Chicago Bears

The Falcons will be searching for the perfect start to the campaign to put their Super Bowl defeat behind them. Dan Quinn’s men have retained the majority of their roster from last season and have more than enough quality for another deep surge in the post-season.

To get there they’ll need another strong start to the campaign. The club do have a new offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, who has taken the reins from Kyle Shanahan. He and reigning MVP Matt Ryan will be desperate to hit the ground running to maintain the high standards from last term.

Chicago are a team in transition as they are recovering from a 3-13 season. Their quarterback position is far from certain as Mike Glennon holds the position down for now. However, the Bears did select Mitchell Trubisky second overall in the 2017 Draft.

Atlanta’s offense has the power and skill to overwhelm the Bears’ defense, who are weak in the secondary. Expect Ryan to dominate at Soldier Field and for Julio Jones to have a huge statistical afternoon to start the campaign, picking up where they left off in 2016.

Therefore pick Atlanta as part of your accumulator or as a single bet with MarathonBet at 1.37Bet €100 to win €13737/100Bet £100 to win £137-270Bet $100 to win $1370.37Bet HK$100 to win HK$137-2.70Bet Rp100 to win Rp1370.3700Bet RM100 to win RM137 .

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cleveland Browns

The Steelers will aim to start fast

The Steelers face an important season in 2017 as their window to add another Super Bowl is closing. Ben Roethlisberger hinted that he could retire at the end of last season, but prolonged his career by another term at the least.

Mike Tomlin’s men have been boosted by the return of Martavis Bryant from suspension, while Le’Veon Bell ended his contract dispute to return in time for the opener. As a result, the Steelers should be on course for another strong campaign, beginning against the Browns.

Cleveland endured a horrific 2016 campaign, ending the term 1-15. Only a win over the Chargers saved them from making history as only the second team to go 0-16. Hue Jackson’s men have made a number of changes in the off-season, with Cleveland now being led by rookie DeShone Kizer at quarterback.

The Browns have improved their offense and their defense through the Draft, but not enough to close the gap to their rivals in the AFC. Pittsburgh have dominated the Browns since Roethlisberger was drafted in 2004, with the 34-year-old boasting a 21-2 record in his 13 seasons with the club.

With the Steelers’ dominant offense and Cleveland’s struggles against their rivals, make sure to put them in your accumulator or back Tomlin’s men at odds of 1.25Bet €100 to win €1251/4Bet £100 to win £125-400Bet $100 to win $1250.25Bet HK$100 to win HK$125-4.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp1250.2500Bet RM100 to win RM125 with PaddyPower.

Oakland Raiders @ Tennessee Titans

This will be one of the closest battles of the opening week of the campaign. The Titans have aspirations of returning to the post-season for the first time since 2008. Mike Mularkey’s men have a strong roster, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Eric Decker was signed by the Titans following his release by the New York Jets, while the club selected wideout Corey Davis with the fifth selection in the 2017 Draft.

Quarterback Marcus Mariota suffered a broken leg in the penultimate game of last term, but he has returned to fitness and could be on the verge of a breakout season. His success will dictate whether the Titans will return to the summit of the AFC South – and with it the playoffs.

There are parallels between the two clubs, with the Raiders one year ahead of Tennessee in the cycle. Derek Carr was an MVP candidate last season before he too sustained a broken leg. His injury ruined Oakland’s playoff hopes as they returned to the post-season for the first time since 2002.

The Raiders have been touted as a Super Bowl team this season and beginning their season on the front foot will be vital to their challenge. However, the Titans are on course for a fine term and defeating Oakland will make a strong statement in week one.

Put Tennessee down to beat Jack Del Rio’s men in your accumulator and at odds of a single bet with 1.77Bet €100 to win €17777/100Bet £100 to win £177-130Bet $100 to win $1770.77Bet HK$100 to win HK$177-1.30Bet Rp100 to win Rp1770.7700Bet RM100 to win RM177  with Bovada sportsbook.

Arizona Cardinals @ Detroit Lions

Stafford can thrive in the opener

The Cardinals took a step back last season, falling out of the place just one year removed from competing in the NFC Championship game. Quarterback Carson Palmer struggled for rhythm throughout the term, resulting in his side’s struggles on offense.

Despite their issues the club did not make significant changes to their offense during the off-season. Head coach Bruce Arians has placed his faith in Palmer to bounce back, although at the age of 37 there are concerns whether his best days are behind him.

Detroit did reach the playoffs last season, but they lost their final three matches of the campaign to miss out on the NFC North title. The Green Bay Packers snatched the crown away from them, putting the Lions on the road to the Seattle Seahawks in the Wildcard Round.

Jim Caldwell’s men were hammered in that contest in Seattle, but are building a solid unit. They have made improvements to their offensive line and areas of their defense, but flaws remain in the club.

However, the Lions might have enough to secure an opening-day win. Palmer’s issues could continue therefore backing Detroit at odds of 2.10Bet €100 to win €21011/10Bet £100 to win £210+110Bet $100 to win $2101.10Bet HK$100 to win HK$2101.10Bet Rp100 to win Rp210-0.9091Bet RM100 to win RM210  on the moneyline with TopBet is the option to take.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Redskins

The Eagles proved to be a surprise package last season, performing above expectations. Carson Wentz played well during his rookie campaign, guiding the club to a 7-9 record.

Without a great deal of talent in the positions around him the 22-year-old was able to drive the ball downfield, connecting with his receivers for 16 touchdowns.

Head coach Doug Pederson will be expecting Wentz to take a step forward in his second term. He now has better talent in the receiving corps as the Eagles signed Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith in the off-season.

The defense also looks formidable after a trade for Ronald Darby and the selection of defensive end Derek Barnett in the first round of the 2017 Draft. Philadelphia could be primed for a challenge this season in the NFC East.

Washington on the other hand have had an off-season of turmoil. General manager Scot McCloughan left the club, while Sean McVay became the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams. Kirk Cousins was involved in a contract dispute with the club, while the receiving corps was depleted.

It could all come to the fore in the opener should Washington struggle. The Eagles have the ability to put them to the sword and emerge with a crucial win at FedExField. Therefore put the visitors in the accumulator and a single punt at odds of 1.90Bet €100 to win €1909/10Bet £100 to win £190-111Bet $100 to win $1900.90Bet HK$100 to win HK$190-1.11Bet Rp100 to win Rp1900.9000Bet RM100 to win RM190  with Winner Sports.
