Gorham’s Cave is our first selection on a busy Tuesday of racing. Roger Varian brings his juvenile to Leicester with high hopes. Prominent in the betting when racing over 7 furlongs on soft ground on debut, the son of Rock Of Gibraltar should be far more streetwise this time around. He only really has two conceivable rivals, and whilst they have both run to a solid level of form, they have each had several chances and there are no secrets – they are exposed animals.

It is well known that Roger Varian 2-year olds learn a great deal from their first racecourse appearance. Silvestre De Sousa was booked so the stable clearly meant business. He pulled too hard for his own good and paid the price late in the day. 5.55 Newcastle – Sir Runs A Lot

Sir Runs A Lot is hopefully going to run quickly for both connections of the horse and for SBO Racing followers. David Barron’s last time out winner has been installed as a marginal favourite for a competitive handicap, and the 5 year old Sir Percy gelding can double up over the same course and distance that he scored at 32 days ago. Sir Runs A Lot may be 5 years old, but the horse has only had a limited number of runs, visiting the racecourse just 8 times. The horse clearly hasn’t been too straightforward and may have suffered injuries, but things took a turn last time out over today’s course and distance when connections applied the first time blinkers. The horse sat handy and battled on well when challenged at the end of the race, getting off the mark. Sir Runs A Lot has only gone up 2lbs in the weights and has a fantastic chance on the ratings.

David Barron does very well in 3 year old+ handicaps on the all-weather between August and February; 77/444 (17%) for £137 LSP, with the horses scoring 45% more frequently than they are entitled to.
