Oldman plays Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour and everyone knows how much the members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences love transformations, particularly when thespians portray famous figures. In Darkest Hour, Oldman plays Churchill in his early days as British prime minister as Adolf Hitler closes in on the United Kingdom during World War II. Darkest Hour has been screened at selected film festivals ahead of its American release in November and British release in December.
