Spurs and Real Madrid to Share Goals at Wembley

October 30, 2017

Spurs secured a 1-1 draw at Real Madrid two weeks ago.

Some huge Champions League matches grace our screens this week, including the return match between Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid. Other games featured are Roma v Chelsea and Napoli v Manchester City in what is a great week for lovers of football.

Harry Kane enhanced his reputation on the European stage in the 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu two weeks ago, and Tottenham are sweating on his fitness ahead of Wednesday’s game after he missed the 1-0 Premier League defeat at Manchester United over the weekend. The match at Wembley is an intriguing one, but anyone who saw that previous match will know that goals should be on the menu.

A similar statement can be made about two other ties involving English clubs – Chelsea and Man City. The Blues had to come from behind to draw 3-3 with Roma at Stamford Bridge in the last round of games, and the pair will go head-to-head again in Italy on Tuesday night. Every match in group C is crucial as Atletico Madrid currently sit third and will be pushing to take one of the top two spots away from these sides. Roma’s performance in that game may have given them the confidence to take the game to Chelsea here on home soil, and it has the potential to be another end-to-end game.

Manchester City are top of group F with three wins, including the 2-1 home win over Napoli two weeks back. The Naples side are in a tough position because they trail Shakhtar Donetsk by three points, and they can’t afford to drop many more points if they want to reach the knockout stages. That should ensure that the Italians take the game to City and this is another that may develop into a very open game.

In terms of result-based bets, Juventus stand out for their trip to Sporting at quotes of odds-against. The Old Lady have work to do to be sure of qualifying from the group with Barcelona, and a victory over their closest challengers for 2nd spot would go a long way to securing that aim.

Spurs v Real Madrid

It’s an over 2.5 goal bet at Wembley when Spurs host Madrid, at odds of 1.49Bet €100 to win €14949/100Bet £100 to win £149-204Bet $100 to win $1490.49Bet HK$100 to win HK$149-2.04Bet Rp100 to win Rp1490.4900Bet RM100 to win RM149  with 888Sport.

Both sides are regular goal-scorers, but neither side covers themselves in defensive glory. Either team could have snatched the result last time, given the range of chances, and if they are not so careless at Wembley there should be a bigger scoreline this time around.

Since that match Spurs have beaten Liverpool 4-1 but lost 3-2 to West Ham, and 1-0 to Manchester United. Meanwhile, Real Madrid have beaten Eibar 3-0 and Fuenlabrada 2-0 but suffered a surprising 2-1 loss at Girona over the weekend. Although the two sides are well on course for qualification – seven points each compared to APOEL and Dortmund’s one point each – it is not in either team’s nature to settle for a draw.

Spurs will surely do everything they can to get Harry Kane fit and onto the pitch, and we know all about the firepower of Ronaldo and Real.

Sporting v Juventus

Juventus are our only results based tip, and look good at odds of 2.10Bet €100 to win €21011/10Bet £100 to win £210+110Bet $100 to win $2101.10Bet HK$100 to win HK$2101.10Bet Rp100 to win Rp210-0.9091Bet RM100 to win RM210  with Bet365.

Sporting are not at the level of the European elite clubs and the chances are that if they want to qualify, they will need to eliminate Juventus. A win for the Portuguese side would draw them level with the Italians on six points, but a win for Juve would see them pull six points clear of Sporting with two fixtures to play. Juve won the previous tie 2-1 in the last round of games, and can complete the double on away soil on Tuesday night.

Roma v Chelsea

Another over 2.5 goal bet is recommended at 1.71Bet €100 to win €17171/100Bet £100 to win £171-141Bet $100 to win $1710.71Bet HK$100 to win HK$171-1.41Bet Rp100 to win Rp1710.7100Bet RM100 to win RM171  with 888Sport when Chelsea visit Roma.

While some punters may expect this to be a more cagey affair than the goal glut at Stamford Bridge, it would come as no great surprise if we were to see the ball hit the back of the net on several occasions. Since that tie Chelsea have won 4-2 over Watford, 2-1 against Everton, and 1-0 away at a dogged Bournemouth. Roma have uncharacteristically won their last three games by a goal to nil, but they are often big scorers and the situation in the group means that a positive result could be vital here, for either club.

Atletico are on just two points in group C, chasing Roma on 5 points and Chelsea on 7 points. There is every chance that qualification will go to the wire in this section and a win here would put the victors further clear of 3rd placed Atletico. That may be enough to persuade both managers to throw caution to the wind (within reason) in order to put themselves in the strongest position to qualify.

Napoli v Manchester City

Finally we’ll risk being repetitive to back over 2.5 goals at 1.44Bet €100 to win €14411/25Bet £100 to win £144-227Bet $100 to win $1440.44Bet HK$100 to win HK$144-2.27Bet Rp100 to win Rp1440.4400Bet RM100 to win RM144  with BetVictor.

Possibly the biggest surprise in the recent fixture between these two was that there were only three goals. Both sides are well-known for high-scoring games, and both have top class attacking options. Sterling and Jesus put City in charge with early goals against Napoli at the Etihad, but the Citizens were grateful for Mertens penalty miss late in the first half before Diawara pulled one back – also from the penalty spot after 73 minutes.

Since that game, Napoli have won 3-2 versus Genoa and 3-1 versus Sassuolo but were held to a 0-0 draw by Inter. It’s a similar story for City – they’ve won 3-0 over Burnley and 3-2 over West Brom, but were held to a shock 0-0 draw by Wolves in the Carabao Cup in-between.
