Seagulls and Eagles to Score in Intense Derby Match

November 28, 2017

Crystal Palace beat Stoke 2-1 to earn a valuable three points.

It’s a bumper midweek special in the Premier League with every team in action over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday. We’ll have a full preview of Wednesday’s games to come but for now, we’ll concentrate on the matches on Tuesday night, including the derby between Brighton and Crystal Palace.

Despite a large geographical gap between the Seagulls and the Eagles, this has always been one of the most fiercely contested derbies in English football and this is the first time they’ve locked horns since 2013. It’s one which both sets of fans will be looking forward to and it should be a charged atmosphere at Brighton’s Amex stadium. Chris Hughton’s side are up to 9th in the table and appear to be holding their own in the Premier League – but the same cannot be said of Palace. Roy Hodgson’s team earned a much-needed three points over the weekend with a 2-1 win over Stoke though, and they will be desperate to keep up the good work as they try to climb up from the bottom of the table.

In other games, Spurs pay a visit to Leicester after a disappointing weekend draw with West Brom, while Newcastle play at managerless West Brom. Tottenham have been excellent in this year’s Champions League but occupy 5th place in the Premier League and will be looking for a win to bolster their top four chances. Both West Brom and Newcastle are in dreadful form going into their game at the Hawthorns, and both look likely to become embroiled in a relegation battle as the season wears on.

Brighton v Crystal Palace

Our first tip is to back both teams to score in Tuesday’s derby at odds of 1.85Bet €100 to win €18517/20Bet £100 to win £185-118Bet $100 to win $1850.85Bet HK$100 to win HK$185-1.18Bet Rp100 to win Rp1850.8500Bet RM100 to win RM185  with BetVictor.

Defence is proving to be Crystal Palace’s Achilles heel this term and they’ve still only managed one clean sheet all season. It’s a tough situation for Roy Hodgson because although he may wish to tighten up at the back, their position at the bottom of the league means that he must go for wins in order to escape relegation. That inevitably leads to an attacking disposition, which in turn leaves gaps at the back. There have at least been signs of improvement in the last two games – a 2-2 draw with Everton and a 2-1 win against Stoke – but he must also contend with the fact that they have lost all seven games away from home this season.

Brighton are having a great season in their first adventure in the Premier League and they have gathered 16 points to put them in 9th place. They’ve only lost one of the last six games in the top flight – a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United. The Seagulls have been particularly good at home where they’ve only been beaten by Manchester City in their six fixtures at the Amex. However, they’ve conceded in five of those, only keeping a clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Newcastle. In a fiery derby, both teams to score looks to be the best bet on offer.

Leicester v Spurs

Next up we fancy Spurs to get back on the winning trail at Leicester in what should be another great game. Tottenham are backed at 1.75Bet €100 to win €1753/4Bet £100 to win £175-133Bet $100 to win $1750.75Bet HK$100 to win HK$175-1.33Bet Rp100 to win Rp1750.7500Bet RM100 to win RM175  with Bet365.

After winning away at Dortmund in the Champions League, the 1-1 draw with West Brom will have been a huge disappointment for Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino. They have won on their last two visits to Leicester though and will be up against a side that is not as defensively-minded as West Brom. Harry Kane earned a point against the Baggies and the England hitman remains in great form. Spurs have won four of six away matches in the Premier League this season and can take three points here.

Leicester are without a win in three top-flight games and are perilously close to getting dragged into the relegation dogfight. a home defeat to Manchester City was sandwiched in-between draws with West Ham and Stoke in the last three games, and they’ve only managed to win two of their six home matches.

West Brom v Newcastle

Finally, the best value at the Hawthorns is on the draw at 3.10Bet €100 to win €31021/10Bet £100 to win £310+210Bet $100 to win $3102.10Bet HK$100 to win HK$3102.10Bet Rp100 to win Rp310-0.4762Bet RM100 to win RM310  with 888Sport.

Newcastle have lost four games on the trot in the Premier League, but things are worse for West Brom who have lost four of the last five and are without a win since late August. That’s 12 games in total and eventually led to the sacking of manager Tony Pulis. Gary Megson is in charge until a new man is appointed, with Alan Pardew reportedly in the frame to take over. The 1-1 draw at Wembley against Spurs over the weekend was a great result though, and one which at least should give them some confidence ahead of this match.

Newcastle have been beaten by Watford, Manchester United, Bournemouth and Burnley in the last four matches, a run which has seen them drop to 14th in the league table. They’ve also managed just the one goal in that run, and Rafa Benitez will want his side to get back to the defensive prowess they showed earlier in the season. A draw would at least stop the rot for the Magpies and we suspect that they will look to frustrate a West Brom side which has little in the way of firepower.
