Australia To Win Tri-Series Final Against New Zealand

February 20, 2018

New Zealand lost the battle but won the war against England in their Tri-Series clash at Hamilton. The Kiwis suffered a two-run defeat at the hands of Eoin Morgan’s men. However, they surpassed the 175-run mark, which handed them a superior net run rate than the tourists.

Kane Williamson and his team will now face off against Australia in the final of the competition. The Kiwis will be looking to build momentum for their upcoming series against England.

They split their two contests against the Three Lions, although they came off on the losing side in both their matches against the Aussies. This included Australia’s world-record T20 chase at Eden Park as David Warner and company were able to successfully reach 245 deliveries with seven balls to spare.

New Zealand have lost their last two matches, despite playing solid cricket. However, the Aussies have been imperious in the Tri-Series and will be determined to sign off with the trophy wrapped up. Australia lacked firepower in their ODI series defeat to England at the start of the year.

They’ve managed to rediscover their power with the bat and another win will cap an impressive run of performances under the leadership of Warner.

New Zealand’s Top Batsman

Martin Guptill once again led the charge for the Kiwis against England at the top of the innings. He notched his second half-century on the bounce in the two contests with the Three Lions. The 31-year-old and Colin Munro handed New Zealand a blistering start to the innings. It ensured that the host nation would be in the final of the Tri-Series, although their team-mates down the order could not drag them to the victory. Guptill and Munro’s striking has been outstanding in the tournament.

Munro dispatched the England attack for seven sixes in just 21 balls before he was removed for 57. He has provided an excellent foil for Guptill at the top of the order, easing the pressure on the 31-year-old. Munro is such a clean-hitter of the ball, bowling to him in the opening six overs is a frightening prospect even for the best bowlers in the world. The left-hander scored 76 against Australia in their last clash at Eden Park. Back him to lead the way once again for the Kiwis in Auckland at odds of 4.00Bet €100 to win €4003/1Bet £100 to win £400+300Bet $100 to win $4003.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$4003.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp400-0.3333Bet RM100 to win RM400  with 888 Sport.

Australia’s Top Batsman

Warner needs to lead from the front

Warner has not been his fluent best in limited-overs cricket since the start of 2018. Truth be told, he was not his destructive self during the Ashes. England forced him to grind out his runs and he performed the task admirably, scoring one century and three 50s to aid his side’s charge to reclaim the urn. However, the 31-year-old has not been able to flick the switch to find his rhythm in the ODI series and now the T20s.

Warner’s top score of 35 highlighted his issues in the 50-over format as the Three Lions were able to frustrate the opener at the top of the innings. He carried that form into the start of the Tri-Series, failing to break double figures in the opening three matches. However, Warner was finally able to cut loose in the world-record chase. He hammered 59 runs off 24 deliveries, providing the catalyst needed to secure the victory. Back the 31-year-old to shine on the big occasion once again at odds of 4.50Bet €100 to win €4507/2Bet £100 to win £450+350Bet $100 to win $4503.50Bet HK$100 to win HK$4503.50Bet Rp100 to win Rp450-0.2857Bet RM100 to win RM450  with 888Sport.

New Zealand’s Top Bowler

Tim Southee recovered from his poor outing against Australia at Eden Park with a bounce-back performance. The seamer took two wickets for just 22 runs from his four overs, handing his side control at the top of the innings and at the death. His team-mate were unable to respond by driving the Kiwis over the line. However, Southee’s comeback will stand him in good stead when he faces off against the Aussies at Eden Park.

The 29-year-old has been a staple of the New Zealand bowling attack for 10 years and his experience will be vital to stop Australia wreaking havoc once again. He has a solid average of 24.80 at Eden Park and has taken his best T20 figures of 5-18 at the stadium. Williamson needs his experienced bowler at his best to limit the Aussies and rack up the wickets. Back him to maintain his momentum at odds of 4.33Bet €100 to win €433333/100Bet £100 to win £433+333Bet $100 to win $4333.33Bet HK$100 to win HK$4333.33Bet Rp100 to win Rp433-0.3003Bet RM100 to win RM433  with BetVictor.

Richardson needs to maintain his form

The Australian bowling attacking were bailed out by the performance of their batsmen at Eden Park last time out. Every man apart from Ashton Agar was hammered around the park, especially Andrew Tye, who conceded 64 runs off his four overs. Kane Richardson has been the lead-off seamer for the Aussies and it will be up to him to set the tone. The 27-year-old was able to keep the runs off the board on home soil in the opening two matches of the series.

Richardson has taken five wickets in his last matches since arriving in New Zealand. He finished the innings strongly against the Kiwis and sent down 10 dot balls in his four overs, taking two strikes in the process last week. Warner will be looking for the right-armer to fire once again. Back Richardson to lead the wicket column for Australia at odds of 4.75Bet €100 to win €47515/4Bet £100 to win £475+375Bet $100 to win $4753.75Bet HK$100 to win HK$4753.75Bet Rp100 to win Rp475-0.2667Bet RM100 to win RM475  with 888Sport.

Winner

The Aussies came out on top against New Zealand in their last clash in a final, defeating the Kiwis by seven wickets to win the World Cup in Melbourne. Their matches in the series have displayed that Australia still hold the edge over their neighbours, but Williamson’s men do have the star power to pull off the victory.

However, even a brilliant effort with the bat in their match last week proved to be futile as Warner’s men upped the ante to produce their record chase. It will take a special effort from the home side to snatch the crown away from the Aussies. Australia have the depth to pull off the win and end their summer campaign with the Tri-Series title. Back them at odds of 1.57Bet €100 to win €15757/100Bet £100 to win £157-175Bet $100 to win $1570.57Bet HK$100 to win HK$157-1.75Bet Rp100 to win Rp1570.5700Bet RM100 to win RM157  with Betway.
