Does Tecia Torres Stand A Chance Against Jessica Andrade?

Jessica Andrade vs. Tecia Torres

Saturday, February 24 – 9:00 pm ET / 2:00 am GMT

Two exciting strawweights will go to war when Jessica Andrade meets Tecia Torres at UFC on FOX 28.

Jessica Andrade is about as straight-forward as it gets as a fighter. She marches forward with her chin tucked and is always ready to launch a combination of devastating hooks toward her opponent. She keeps backing her opponent to the fence before maybe even considering shooting in for a takedown and then controlling them with heavy top pressure. She’s coming off the biggest win of her career now after she controlled and dominated the seriously tough Claudia Gadelha in the second and third round in September.

Tecia Torres has been climbing through the division and now finds herself in the biggest matchup of her 11 fight career. Why? Well, a win against Andrade will almost guarantee that Torres is next in line to challenge for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship. At the moment, that title is held by Rose Namajunas, someone that Torres has defeated in the past. Torres enters this matchup after an excellent victory against Michelle Waterson at UFC 218.

Betting Market and Prediction

Torres is certainly a capable fighter, but it’s hard to see her getting past Jessica Andrade just because of the way that these two styles clash.

Torres is a ferocious fighter while standing and we saw her get the better of Michelle Waterson on the feet. However, Waterson also controlled Torres for a majority of the second round on the mat. Andrade is completely relentless and will likely end up getting top position in this contest and maintaining it with ease before grinding out a decision victory.

At the moment, Jessica Andrade can be backed at odds of 1.35Bet €100 to win €1357/20Bet £100 to win £135-286Bet $100 to win $1350.35Bet HK$100 to win HK$135-2.86Bet Rp100 to win Rp1350.3500Bet RM100 to win RM135 at BetOnline.

Ovince Saint Preux vs. Ilir Latifi

Saturday, February 24 – 8:30 pm ET / 1:30 am GMT

Ovince Saint Preux and Ilir Latifi will meet in an intriguing light heavyweight contest at UFC on FOX 28.

Ovince Saint Preux has weirdly kind of risen to a new height lately. He’s always been a mid-level contender in the division, but now has seemingly become somewhat of a more popular fighter after racking up consecutive Von Flue Choke submissions in 2017. He backed up his efforts with an impressive high kick knockout against Corey Anderson at UFC 217.

Ilir Latifi went missing for a long period after suffering a brutal knockout loss to Ryan Bader in 2016. However, he returned to the cage in a big way when he defeated the rising Tyson Pedro at UFC 215. Latifi executed a brilliant gameplan to take out the threatening light heavyweight and controlled him for the three rounds quite easily.

Betting Market and Prediction

There is lots of respect for both fighters in this matchup and the bookmakers have released Ovince Saint Preux as a slight betting favorite. “OSP” can be found at odds of 1.87Bet €100 to win €18787/100Bet £100 to win £187-115Bet $100 to win $1870.87Bet HK$100 to win HK$187-1.15Bet Rp100 to win Rp1870.8700Bet RM100 to win RM187. On the other end of this one, though, Latifi represents great value at odds of 2.09Bet €100 to win €209109/100Bet £100 to win £209+109Bet $100 to win $2091.09Bet HK$100 to win HK$2091.09Bet Rp100 to win Rp209-0.9174Bet RM100 to win RM209.

It’s easy to think that the Ovince Saint Preux train will keep on rolling. However, I believe that the “OSP” train will come to a halt this weekend against Latifi. It might not be pretty, but Latifi might do enough to edge past Saint Preux on the scorecards.

Mike Perry vs. Max Griffin

Saturday, February 24 – 8:00 pm ET / 1:00 am GMT

Mike Perry vs. Max Griffin has the word ‘violence’ written all over it.

Mike Perry was (and still is) becoming famous for his never say die attitude and straight-up brawling fighting style. Perry only knows one way, and that’s forward. However, he ran into some trouble at the hands of Santiago Ponzinibbio in his most recent bout in December. Perry is now 2-2 in his last four outings and we are starting to realize that despite his entertaining style, it is (of course) not all that good for actually trying to climb the rankings and be consistent in victory.

Max Griffin believes that “it is a dream come true to fight Mike.” He steps into the cage this weekend after losing two of his first three bouts inside the Octagon. Most recently, Griffin lost a decision to Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos.

Betting Market and Prediction

Griffin’s fighting style is actually quite favorable against a brawler like Perry. He fights behind his jab and doesn’t overcommit to any particular position or range. He’s strong enough to shrug off clinch attempts and takedowns and is quite agile on his feet. However, when he does step inside the range of his opponent he gets tagged. He was hurt by Dos Santos too many times. Against some fighters in the division, that’s okay if you can land more shots than they do. Against Perry, though, it might just take one or two of these clean shots to really change the outcome of the fight.

Oddsmakers are in the belief that this is Mike Perry’s fight to lose. However, his odds are all over the place and you can find him for 1.30Bet €100 to win €1303/10Bet £100 to win £130-333Bet $100 to win $1300.30Bet HK$100 to win HK$130-3.33Bet Rp100 to win Rp1300.3000Bet RM100 to win RM130 in some places and as much as 1.26Bet €100 to win €12613/50Bet £100 to win £126-385Bet $100 to win $1260.26Bet HK$100 to win HK$126-3.85Bet Rp100 to win Rp1260.2600Bet RM100 to win RM126 in others.

Alternatively, Max Griffin can be found for odds of 3.85Bet €100 to win €38557/20Bet £100 to win £385+285Bet $100 to win $3852.85Bet HK$100 to win HK$3852.85Bet Rp100 to win Rp385-0.3509Bet RM100 to win RM385 right now.
