Getafe to Stay in the Hunt for Europa League Spot

April 26, 2018

Getafe could still qualify for the Europa League.

Only one point separates Getafe and Girona on the Spanish Primera Division ladder but the Deep Blues are in better form than the White and Reds plus there is a statistical measure by which the former are superior to the latter.

A place in the UEFA Europa League is not totally out of reach for either Getafe or Girona, particularly the Deep Blues because two of their remaining four Spanish Primera Division games are against the league’s bottom two teams, Las Palmas and Malaga. Getafe has given itself a chance of overtaking sixth-ranked Villarreal by winning each of its last three Spanish Primera Division matches, including back-to-back away wins over Valencia and Eibar. Girona, however, has slid below Getafe on the Spanish Primera Division ladder after accruing just four points from its last half a dozen games, including copping a 0-5 hammering at Sociedad and losing 0-2 at home to Espanyol last weekend.

The Spanish Primera Division ladder suggests that there is very little to choose between Getafe and Girona but one’s collateral form analysis comes down firmly on the side of the Deep Blues. Getafe boasts a 9-4-6 Spanish Primera Division collateral form advantage over Girona and that includes a progressive count of 8-2-2 that indicates that the Deep Blues have outperformed the White and Reds versus most of Spain’s leading lights, including champion-elect Barcelona. Getafe lost 0-1 at Girona when the sides met in Spanish Primera Division action in December but that match was determined by a goal in its fifth minute and the corner-kick count ended 7-1 in favour of the losers. Back the Deep Blues at odds of 2.05Bet €100 to win €20521/20Bet £100 to win £205+105Bet $100 to win $2051.05Bet HK$100 to win HK$2051.05Bet Rp100 to win Rp205-0.9524Bet RM100 to win RM205  with BetVictor.

Barcelona is determined to go through the Spanish Primera Division season undefeated and, with no distractions, the runaway championship leader should justify favouritism at 1.29Bet €100 to win €12929/100Bet £100 to win £129-345Bet $100 to win $1290.29Bet HK$100 to win HK$129-3.45Bet Rp100 to win Rp1290.2900Bet RM100 to win RM129  with 888Sport in its league game at despondent Deportivo on Sunday.

Nine points adrift of safety, Deportivo could kick off versus Barcelona knowing that anything less than a home defeat of its all-powerful opponent will confirm its fall out of the Spanish Primera Division. According to one’s Spanish Primera Division collateral form analysis, it is highly unlikely that Deportivo will get anything out of its match against Barcelona – Super Depor trails Barca 0-0-19. December’s reverse Spanish Primera Division fixture ended 4-0 in favour of Barcelona with Luis Suarez and Paulinho scoring one goal apiece in each half and Deportivo has slumped to home losses to second-ranked Atletico Madrid, third-ranked Real Madrid, fourth-ranked Valencia and fifth-ranked Betis in a terrible term for Super Depor.

In what is a Spanish Primera Division round fraught with danger for punters, not least because of midweek UEFA tournament blockbuster in which Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are on the road, one’s third and final pick is Betis to get the better of relegated Malaga on Monday at odds of 1.44Bet €100 to win €14411/25Bet £100 to win £144-227Bet $100 to win $1440.44Bet HK$100 to win HK$144-2.27Bet Rp100 to win Rp1440.4400Bet RM100 to win RM144  with Betway. Betis beat Malaga 2-0 in December’s reverse Spanish Primera Division fixture and, according to one’s collateral form analysis, the Green and Whites lead the Anchovies 13-1-5.
