Valencia to Shut Out Demoted Deportivo in La Liga

May 18, 2018

Valencia face relegated Deportivo in La Liga this weekend.

The Spanish Primera Division wraps up this weekend and, with no major issues requiring resolution – Barcelona secured the championship weeks ago, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League spots are allocated and the relegation places are locked in – it is a punting minefield.

Next season, Valencia will play in the UEFA Champions League in addition to the Spanish Primera Division, whereas its Sunday guest, Deportivo, will slum it in Spain’s second tier. Perhaps the best bet in the 38th and final round of Spanish Primera Division matches is fourth-ranked Valencia to beat 18th-ranked Deportivo without conceding a goal.

It is unsurprising that Valencia holds a strong Spanish Primera Division collateral form lead over Deportivo, with the numbers putting the advantage of the Bats over Super Depor at 14-3-2, including progressive counts of 4-0-0, 6-1-0 and 12-2-1. That Valencia has not beaten a fellow Spanish Primera Division top-five team is a knock on the quality of the Bats and indicates that they will not be a force in the UEFA Champions League unless they add some reinforcements during the European summer but, to their credit, they have defeated sides such as Deportivo with monotonous regularity, particularly on their home pitch. Valencia has won each of it’s 10 Spanish Primera Division home games versus teams ranked lower than 10th, keeping a clean sheet in four of those matches, including shutting out each of the three lowest ranked visitors to the Mestalla. A bet on Valencia to win to nil is priced at 2.80Bet €100 to win €2809/5Bet £100 to win £280+180Bet $100 to win $2801.80Bet HK$100 to win HK$2801.80Bet Rp100 to win Rp280-0.5556Bet RM100 to win RM280  with BetVictor.

Deportivo’s dismal Spanish Primera Division campaign has featured just six wins and 29 points, leaving the former powerhouse 11 points adrift of safety with one round to go. Deportivo has accrued only three points from three draws against the Spanish Primera Division’s top 14 sides and Super Depor have fired blanks in nine of its 17 away games, including failing to trouble the scoreboards at Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. January’s reverse Spanish Primera Division fixture resulted in a 2-1 road win for Valencia.

A similar wager may pay dividends when Atletico Madrid hosts Eibar on Sunday, with the win to nil priced at 2.60Bet €100 to win €2608/5Bet £100 to win £260+160Bet $100 to win $2601.60Bet HK$100 to win HK$2601.60Bet Rp100 to win Rp260-0.6250Bet RM100 to win RM260  with Betway. Atletico will be backing up from winning the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday but it needs at least one Spanish Primera Division point to finish above Real Madrid, which is sure to motivate the Mattressmakers four days after they thrashed Marseille 3-0 in Lyon.

According to one’s Spanish Primera Division collateral form analysis, Atletico Madrid boasts a 14-2-3 edge over Eibar, including progressive counts of 3-0-0, 4-1-0 and 6-1-1. Atletico pipped Eibar 1-0 in January’s reverse Spanish Primera Division and the away form of the Gunners does not bode well for their trip to the capital – they are 0-1-7 lining up away to top-10 teams, scoring just two goals and both of them came in matches that they lost comfortably.

Barcelona will want to farewell Andres Iniesta in style so take a punt on Barca shellacking Sociedad in an entertaining Spanish Primera Division match. Sociedad trails Barcelona 3-2-14 on one’s Spanish Primera Division collateral form, including losing January’s reverse fixture 2-4, but La Real have scored at least one goal in each of their road games versus the league’s other top-five ranked sides. Backing Barcelona to win Sunday’s Spanish Primera Division match coupled with over three and a half goals at odds of 1.73Bet €100 to win €17373/100Bet £100 to win £173-137Bet $100 to win $1730.73Bet HK$100 to win HK$173-1.37Bet Rp100 to win Rp1730.7300Bet RM100 to win RM173  with Betway makes sense.
