Derby Clean Sheets to Be Conspicuous by Their Absence

August 31, 2018

Eibar - La liga

Backing both teams to score in Friday’s match between Eibar and Sociedad is the best bet in the third round of Spanish Primera Division games that features nine fixtures following the postponement of Vallecano versus Athletic on Saturday.

Eibar against Sociedad is one of the minor Basque derbies with the headline clash being the matches between Athletic and La Real. Derbies have a reputation for being tight, low-scoring affairs but history shows that those between Eibar and Sociedad do not conform to the norm. Both sides have found the back of the net in four of the last half a dozen meetings of Eibar and Sociedad and, in another boon for Spanish Primera Division punters, there is a recent head-to-head result because the Gunners and La Real met leading into the new season. Eibar hosted a July friendly versus Sociedad and the preliminary game ended 3-2 in favour of La Real with both teams scoring inside 58 minutes.

Neither Eibar nor Sociedad has kept a clean sheet in the first two Spanish Primera Division rounds. According to most bookmakers, it is a coin flip whether both sides to score will be yes or no in Friday’s regional Spanish Primera Division but one would argue that the odds should be favouring the affirmative given the data presented.

Derbies are difficult to avoid in Round Three of the Spanish Primera Division with four of the fixtures having bragging rights on the line – Eibar against Sociedad on Friday – where both teams to score is 1.80Bet €100 to win €1804/5Bet £100 to win £180-125Bet $100 to win $1800.80Bet HK$100 to win HK$180-1.25Bet Rp100 to win Rp1800.8000Bet RM100 to win RM180  with Betway – Real Madrid against Leganes on Saturday, Levante against Valencia on Sunday and Betis against Sevilla on Sunday. And, to round out one’s Spanish Primera Division picks, one is betting on two more of those emotionally charged matches.

Both teams scored in each of last season’s Spanish Primera Division games between Levante and Valencia – the first match ended in a 1-1 draw and the second encounter finished 3-1 in favour of the Bats. If one includes both competitive and friendly games, both sides have rustled the onion bag in 10 of Levante’s last 11 matches and the odd one out was its 3-0 Spanish Primera Division road victory at Betis in which the Frogs rode their luck versus the Green and Whites. As is the case with the Spanish Primera Division game between Eibar and Sociedad, the match between Levante and Valencia has an away favourite and one thinks that is never a bad thing when one is backing both teams to score. That’s the bet at 1.57Bet €100 to win €15757/100Bet £100 to win £157-175Bet $100 to win $1570.57Bet HK$100 to win HK$157-1.75Bet Rp100 to win Rp1570.5700Bet RM100 to win RM157  with Black Type.

Maybe one is being stubborn but one is refusing to give up on Betis, which is longer odds than Sevilla to earn three points in the final game of the Spanish Primera Division round. Betis at 2.80Bet €100 to win €2809/5Bet £100 to win £280+180Bet $100 to win $2801.80Bet HK$100 to win HK$2801.80Bet Rp100 to win Rp280-0.5556Bet RM100 to win RM280  with Betway accrued four points from its Spanish Primera Division derbies against Sevilla last term and, whereas the Green and Whites will have a full week to prepare for their cross-city clash, the White and Reds will have to back up from a UEFA Europa League home match versus Sigma Olomouc. Sevilla’s UEFA Europa League adventure has yet to really bite on its Spanish Primera Division campaign but it is probably only a matter of time given its recent run of playing two games per week, sometimes in different lands.

Spanish Primera Division officials have postponed the Round Three fixture between Vallecano and Athletic over safety concerns at Rayo’s home ground.
