Which European Will Top Score At The Ryder Cup?

Thomas Bjorn leads Europe in their quest to regain the Ryder Cup back from the United States as the two teams begin their battle in Paris on Friday.

Europe saw their winning streak of three-straight tournaments ended in the USA last time out as Darren Clarke’s men fell to a heavy defeat.

There have been several changes to that team, although the core figures remain the same. Bjorn will be using a blend of experience and youthful talent in his bid to win the 42^nd Ryder Cup come Sunday.

Rory McIlroy

Bjorn will be expecting big things out of McIlroy over the three days. The Northern Irishman is usually the man that sticks his hand up to play in every single match. McIlroy does have a winning record, triumphing in nine of his 19 matches, drawing four of the contests. Justin Rose

Rose was the other player that was attempting to catch Woods at the top of the leaderboard at the Tour Championship. He also failed to rise to the occasion, producing underwhelming golf on his final round with a three-over performance, knocking him down to tied-fourth. However, Rose did manage to the win the FedEx Cup for his consistency over the course of the campaign. His steady nature will be vital for Bjorn during the competition. Rose is the sort of player that will not let anyone down on at Le Golf National, while he has a strong history at the tournament.

The 38-year-old will be playing in his fifth Ryder Cup, and his fourth on the bounce. Rose has an imperious record similar to that of Ian Poulter. His reliability will be massive for Bjorn to lean on as Clarke did before him as the Englishman played in all five matches last time out. In total Rose has played 19 matches, winning 11 of his contests. John Rahm

At the age of 23, Rahm will be playing in the Ryder Cup for the first time. The Spaniard has a great deal of potential that he has flashed on the PGA Tour, although he has not been able to secure the success to match up to his talent. Ian Poulter

Poulter returns to the fold as a wildcard selection after missing the tournament last time out. He is unbeaten on the final day and relishes the occasion of one-on-one matchplay. In 18 matches at the Ryder Cup, Poulter has won 12 of them. He provides a stubborn obstacle for the States in their attempt to win the tournament overseas for the first time in 25 years. Poulter’s form coming into the Ryder Cup is not outstanding, although it has not counted for a great deal in the past. He finished tied-fifth at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play earlier this year and should be ready for the challenge.
