Vikings, Panthers, Chargers All To Win NFL Week Nine

November 2, 2018

It’s time in the NFL season for the teams hopeful of making a surge towards the playoffs to start making their moves to distance themselves from the pack.

There are important games in week nine as titans collide on Sunday, which could open up opportunities for sides in both conferences to seize the initiative.

We’ll now break down five teams that you should have in your teaser outside of the main headline games over the weekend.

Will the Vikings bounce back?

Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings

The Lions missed a huge opportunity last week to put pressure on the teams around them in the NFC North. Both the Vikings and the Green Bay Packers had difficult matches against the New Orleans Saints and the Los Angeles Rams, which saw both teams slipped to defeats. However, Detroit failed to make them pay, suffering a 14-point loss at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks. The Lions defense struggled to contain Russell Wilson, while Matt Stafford was not on point. Matt Patricia’s frustration got the better of him during the week as he sniped at a reporter during a press conference after leading wideout Golden Tate was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.

It’s not all rosy for Detroit at the moment and the Vikings will be looking to capitalise. Minnesota made costly mistakes in their loss to the Saints, with Adam Thielen and Kirk Cousins being the guilty party. The two players will win more games for the club than lose them so there’s blame attached to the duo. They will be hungry to bounce back with a strong outing against the Lions, who could be exposed through the air. Back Minnesota to claim the win on home soil at odds of 1.43Bet €100 to win €14343/100Bet £100 to win £143-233Bet $100 to win $1430.43Bet HK$100 to win HK$143-2.33Bet Rp100 to win Rp1430.4300Bet RM100 to win RM143  with Bovada.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Carolina Panthers

The Buccaneers’ decision to go with Jameis Winston as their starting quarterback has derailed a decent start to the term. Winston missed the opening three matches of the campaign due to suspension, leaving Ryan Fitzpatrick to take the reins. He performed well, bar one poor outing against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dirk Koetter made the choice to start Winston on his return and has paid the price. Winston’s woeful outing against the Cincinnati Bengals put his team deep in the mire before he was pulled from the game. Fitzpatrick brought the Bucs level, only for Cincinnati to pull out the win late in the final minute.

All eyes will be on Fitzpatrick against Carolina, although he should have the starting place nailed down for the short-term future at least. It’s a difficult match for the Bucs to face as the Panthers have been excellent at home this term. Ron Rivera’s men have won all their four matches and put on a clinic to defeat the Baltimore Ravens last time out. Cam Newton put 36 points on the best defense in the NFL. He now faces the worst defense in the league and should be able to rack up the points with ease. Take the Panthers to canter to a comfortable victory at odds of 1.36Bet €100 to win €1369/25Bet £100 to win £136-278Bet $100 to win $1360.36Bet HK$100 to win HK$136-2.78Bet Rp100 to win Rp1360.3600Bet RM100 to win RM136  with Bovada.

Los Angeles Chargers @ Seattle Seahawks

The Chargers’ great adventure on the road continues at Seattle. Los Angeles have not played on home soil for almost a month. They’ve spent time in Cleveland, London and now Seattle as aim to continue their push for a playoff place in the AFC Conference. Anthony Lynn’s men were grateful to Mike Vrabel’s bold decision to go for two rather than an extra-point that would have sent their clash with the Tennessee Titans into overtime at Wembley.

The Chargers made the goalline stand to secure their fourth win on the bounce. Los Angeles are 5-2 in their campaign two games behind the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West. They have to keep winning to keep the pressure on their rivals, their offense has a good chance of exposing the Seahawks. Philip Rivers is playing the best football of his career and will be the platform for another road win.

Seattle proved their quality on the road and remain a tough outfit to face at CenturyLink Field. Wilson was on the spot in the redzone last week, connecting with David Moore for two touchdowns.  Chris Carson is slowly becoming an effective presence in the running game, notching his second 100-yard game of the campaign. It should be a thrilling game, but back Rivers to produce the upset on the road at odds of 2.05Bet €100 to win €20521/20Bet £100 to win £205+105Bet $100 to win $2051.05Bet HK$100 to win HK$2051.05Bet Rp100 to win Rp205-0.9524Bet RM100 to win RM205  with TopBet.

New York Jets @ Miami Dolphins

After producing promising wins over the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos, the Jets have dropped back-to-back games to the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears. It has been a tough baptism for quarterback Sam Darnold in his rookie season. He has not been blessed with talented options around him, but he has attempted to make the best out of an imperfect situation.

The 21-year-old struggled against the Vikings and the Bears, completing under 50% of his passes. Darnold does have 11 touchdowns on the season and may have the opportunity to add to his total against the Dolphins as he squares up to them once again. He had a decent game at MetLife Stadium, but was to rue two interceptions. A clean performance might be enough on the road.

Brock Osweiler will lead the Dolphins once again in the absence of Ryan Tannehill. Miami have imploded since their 3-0 start to the season, winning just one out of their next five games. Osweiler had his issues against the Houston Texans last time out and may have problems again with the Jets’ defense, who have talented players in the secondary. Expect this one to be a low-scoring affair that New York might be able to squeeze out. Take them for value at odds of 2.35Bet €100 to win €23527/20Bet £100 to win £235+135Bet $100 to win $2351.35Bet HK$100 to win HK$2351.35Bet Rp100 to win Rp235-0.7407Bet RM100 to win RM235 with BetOnline.

Atlanta Falcons @ Washington Redskins

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is performing at a higher level this season than his MVP campaign of two years ago. Ryan has been simply outstanding, completing over 70% of his passes, throwing 15 touchdowns to just two interceptions. Unfortunately for the 33-year-old his performances have not been good enough to guide his team to a winning record.

The Falcons are 3-4 on the campaign as injuries have ravaged the defense, leaving them exposed through the middle of the field. Atlanta have recorded back-to-back victories and are always a threat to score over 30 points. It could be enough against the Redskins.

Alex Smith has been solid for his team since his move to the club. Washington have taken control of the NFC East with two successive wins over their rivals the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. Jay Gruden’s men have won their last three matches on the bounce, propelling them to a 5-2 record. The defense has restricted their opponents to under 20 points in their winning run, although they will have their work cut out this week. Atlanta may just have enough to secure the upset to continue their revival at odds of 2.13Bet €100 to win €213113/100Bet £100 to win £213+113Bet $100 to win $2131.13Bet HK$100 to win HK$2131.13Bet Rp100 to win Rp213-0.8850Bet RM100 to win RM213  with BetOnline.
