Does Gronkowski Have One Final Super Bowl Onslaught?

January 30, 2019

The New England Patriots will be hopeful that their offensive resurgence continues in Super Bowl LIII to see off the Los Angeles Rams in Atlanta.

For once New England’s offense was not quite firing on all cylinders during the regular season. Josh McDaniels’ unit still ranked fourth in scoring come the end of the campaign, although it did not look the teams of old that used to crush their opponents.

Tom Brady’s statistics were not quite as gaudy as his MVP campaign of the 2017 term. Julian Edelman missed the opening four games of the season with a suspension and it took time for him to find his form. Rob Gronkowski lumbered around the field for the majority of the term before looking like his old self against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.

When it has mattered the most the Patriots have returned to the juggernaut the rest of the NFL fears. They crushed the Los Angeles Chargers in the Divisional Round with the running game as Sony Michel rushed for three touchdowns and 129 yards. He was again the focal point against the Chiefs before a shootout occurred in the fourth quarter.

Brady proved that he still had the magic to see off the young pretender in Mahomes, outduelling the favourite for the 2018 MVP award to send the Patriots through to the Super Bowl. New England’s skill players will need another flawless performance to defeat another rising team in Atlanta.

Does Gronkowski have one last great Super Bowl effort?

Rob Gronkowski

The Super Bowl could be Gronkowski’s final match in the NFL. The 29-year-old has not committed to playing another season, although he still has another year on his contract. Gronkowski has not been the dominant player of old during the 2018 season. He made a bright start to the campaign, but tailed off in the middle stretch. The tight end appeared to be struggling with injury that effected his ability to run downfield and break free of tight coverage. By NFL standards he still had a good term, notching three touchdowns and over 500 receiving yards.

However, by his own ridiculous levels, his play did not tally with his previous eight years in the league. Gronkowski has not shied away from playing every down, despite not operating at the peak of his powers. He has been deployed in the running game, displaying his impressive blocking skills. With the game on the line, Brady has still turned to his most trusted of targets in the endzone. Against the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 14, the duo failed to connect. In the AFC Championship Game, Brady found his tight end twice in the clutch to drive New England into scoring positions.

Last season Gronkowski had a Super Bowl for the ages with 115 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He was truly dominant as the Philadelphia Eagles had no answer for him and Brady. Whether he has another effort like that in him remains to be seen. Take him to notch over 3.5 receptions at 1.61Bet €100 to win €16161/100Bet £100 to win £161-164Bet $100 to win $1610.61Bet HK$100 to win HK$161-1.64Bet Rp100 to win Rp1610.6100Bet RM100 to win RM161  and over 54.5 receiving yards at 1.87Bet €100 to win €18787/100Bet £100 to win £187-115Bet $100 to win $1870.87Bet HK$100 to win HK$187-1.15Bet Rp100 to win Rp1870.8700Bet RM100 to win RM187  with TopBet and odds of 2.50Bet €100 to win €2503/2Bet £100 to win £250+150Bet $100 to win $2501.50Bet HK$100 to win HK$2501.50Bet Rp100 to win Rp250-0.6667Bet RM100 to win RM250  to score anytime in the contest with 888Sport.

Julian Edelman

The Patriots missed Edelman last season in the Super Bowl as the wideout was ruled out with a torn ACL, which cost him the entire campaign. Edelman has returned this season and is the heartbeat of the team, signifying the underdog spirit that New England have used to motivate them for the post-season. The 32-year-old had a slow start to the campaign as he worked his way back from injury. However, by the end of the regular season he appeared to operating near to the peak of his powers.

Edelman tore apart the Chargers in the Divisional Round, notching nine receptions for 151 yards. He continued in the same vein in the AFC Championship Game. When the game was on the line, Brady turned to his most trusted target to convert three third downs. Every time Edelman managed to get open over the middle of the field, catch the ball and take the contact from the Chiefs’ defense. He has become the most important Patriots offensive player amid Gronkowski’s decline in form.

Edelman has been outstanding in his previous Super Bowls, catching the decisive touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks and a game-changing grab in the Patriots’ win over the Atlanta Falcons. Expect another strong outing from the slot receiver over the middle of the field. His intensity is difficult to match and will provide a nightmare for whoever will be covering him. Sony Michel

The Patriots’ running game has been crucial to their success in the post-season and Michel has been the key man in the middle. New England used the second of their first-round picks in the 2018 Draft to acquire Michel out of the Georgia Bulldogs. He had been a quality performer in the college game and Bill Belichick’s men had a need at the position following the loss of Dion Lewis. Michel had a slow start to the campaign, suffering a knee injury in pre-season.

However, he found his form to record back-to-back 100-yard rushing games, only to suffer another ailment against the Chicago Bears. His season appeared to be lost, although thankfully for the running back, the injury was not was worse as first feared. The 23-year-old was solid to end the campaign, but once the playoffs came around the switch was flicked. Michel dominated the Chargers on the ground, scoring three touchdowns and 129 yards. He had another 100-yard game against the Chiefs, taking punishment but getting the job done for his team with two touchdowns.

Back Michel to set the tone for the Patriots with the first touchdown at odds of 7.00Bet €100 to win €7006/1Bet £100 to win £700+600Bet $100 to win $7006.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$7006.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp700-0.1667Bet RM100 to win RM700  with Bet365, and the most rushing yards in the game at odds of 2.25Bet €100 to win €2255/4Bet £100 to win £225+125Bet $100 to win $2251.25Bet HK$100 to win HK$2251.25Bet Rp100 to win Rp225-0.8000Bet RM100 to win RM225  with Betway.
